Special Post-SIEGE issue – that introduces a brand-new character! When a magical landmark like Asgard crashes to Earth, the fallout doesn’t end just by sweeping up the wreckage. This historic disaster has unleashed unprecedented threats, and one of them is pillaging the American Midwest! This sounds like the perfect mission for Luke Cage’s untested team of incarcerated superhumans—and while the newly assembled Thunderbolts boast the power of Juggernaut, Ghost, Moonstone, Crossbones and Man-Thing, are even they ready to handle the girl known only as… Troll?
After taking out Luke Cage, Mach V, and Songbird, Baron Zemo asks the Thunderbolts to board his ship before the Raft’s defenses activate. Crossbones agrees, while Juggernaut attempts to leave the island by water. Ghost is unconvinced of the events and can tell the three supervisors’ vital signs are normal. Baron Zemo is actually Fixer in disguise. The scenario was a ruse to test the member’s loyalties. Fixer informs the team they had nanites installed to incapacitate their powers whenever the supervisors wanted.
Next, Cage meets briefly with the new warden of the Raft, John Walker (USAgent). Walker, now with a prosthetic arm after the events of Siege, refuses Fixer’s offer of cybernetics, saying he didn’t want to become a cyborg like Nuke, the one who severed his arm and leg. Nuke remains in a coma on the Raft.
Just before their next briefing, Cage informs Crossbones that he is equipped only with non-lethal weaponry. The Thunderbolts’ next mission is to capture three trolls that escaped from their Asgardian holding cells after Asgard collapsed. Man-Thing transports the team to the projected location of the trolls and the Thunderbolts quickly enter into a fight with two of the trolls. While the rest of the team are fighting the two trolls, Ghost encounters a human-looking female troll whose axe was able to harm Ghost’s suit was while he was intangible. The female troll continues to attack Ghost in the final panel.
