Warning: This issue contains explicit Awesomeness
Wow and I thought I saw everything. Two people just found themselves on my list of Marvel badasses and one of them did it with only one leg and one arm.
The Good:
- Yes, mindless action scenes that had me dropping my jaw and shed a tear as I was struck in the face with sheer awesomeness and the most greatest moment in Marvel history for Luke Cage. Let me put it this way, after reading this issue, forgetting his name would be hard. Action, lots of action coming from almost all heroes in this one issue.
- Luke Cage has made himself a hero and ultimate badass in my book after what he showed me in this one issue. NOW THATS LUKE CAGE, his moment in this issue where he would fight Purple Man had me placing this issue on my wall to be framed and glorified as an example of EPIC awesomness.
- Then comes John Walker, the new warden of the Raft who would also have me shed a tear of joy when I would see one of the most interesting and unpredictable moments in Marvel history as he would show Marvel fans that Daredevil isn't the only handicapped hero who can actually kick some royal ass with his only leg, wow.
- The storyline for this series was very unique and pretty awesome as we see how a group of random villains, few heroes, and one monster connect and use teamwork. Seeing Man-Thing in action and actually save Moonstone as if she was the damsell in distress was very interesting to see. Crossbones literally becoming an unstoppable force of bullets when we see what he can do with live rounds, and poor Ghost taking a shower probably for the first time since he made his appearance. Jeff Parker would reach the ranks of Brubaker as a talented writer with these new Thunderbolts, as he gives us curiousity, excitement, action, asskicking fights, and rewarding moments that I will never find myself forgetting.
- I really like the artwork, and probably the best reason why is how Crossbones is drawn and we see him slowly chasing down a monster while reloading his gun, taking his sweet time. One that I liked alot is how Cage is challenged by Purple Man, the way he was shown on closing the jail bars so nobody can get out and it would be just him and an army of inmates, that was EPIC. I know the art is a bit cartoonish or blocky, but after seeing these characters movement and action scenes, I could careless how cartoonish this comic may look.
The Bad:
- Im not really into Avengers Academy, but because of this issue im actually going to get it so that I can get the whole story of what happened. I really dont like that, where you have to get another book in order to realize whats going on and you may find yourself lost in this issue like I was at first.
The Ugly:
None at all
The Conclusion:
If you want to get your ass kicked by sheer awesomness, then get off your ass and go to your local comicbook store and buy this issue and be warned that you may become a Luke Cage fan if your already not.
Im glad that Parker has taken alot attention into this new series and give the fans a storyline that unique and take the name Thunderbolts towards awesomness. I honestly wish that Bendis would leave Luke Cage alone and be left with Parker, because Parker really brings out Luke cage, unlike Bendis who makes him look like a crybaby because he's not a "real" Avenger or something.
If you haven't had the chance to read this issue, than I would highly suggest giving this comic a try.
Im That Badguy and I thankyou for your time reading this and I do hope you shed a tear of EPIC moments that this issue offers.
