Readers Reap the Rewards of "Faith in Monsters"
Since Warren Ellis has taken over Thunderbolts, every issue has been a must read. This issue picks up with the Thunderbolts taking on a trio of unregistered superhumans out in Arizona. This intense battle pits Sepulchre, American Eagle, and the Steel Spider against, Thunderbolt members Radioactive Man, Venom, Penance, Songbird, and Bullseye. At this point it seems like the teams is splitting at the seams and it'll take some work to get them back on track. Throughout the story you start to ask yourself who is the hero in the story. If you were anti-registration during the Civil War, your opinon probably hasn't changed. The way some of these "heroes" partcularly Bullseye and Venom, are characterized, really shows them in the way you would truly expect them to be, despite their current roles. What works about this issue is that it answers the question of whether or not you can turn these former villians into real heroes. The battle is brutal, the story is intense and ends with a shocking finale that'll have readers wondering what's next. Go buy it.
