    The Myth lives! 0

Based on Marvel comics classic Norse mythology based super hero, the mighty Thor, Marvel studios -Thor aims to bring this larger than life character to the big screen and start this year’s super hero summer with a bang.  Marvel studio’s Thor, directed Kenneth  Branagh and written by Zak Penn is the first of several major big screen comic book adaptations slated for a 2011 release and is defiantly one of the most enjoyable superhero themed films currently in existence. The film covers the adapte...

Thor is here, which leads up to next year's Avengers. The Good This is probly one of Marvels best movies. Asgard was amazing, the special effects and everything else was spectacular. Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston deliever excellant performances along with the rest of the cast. The action with Frost Giants, Destroyer and Loki are very good. Thor in Midguard is fun with some funny scene's are very good. S.H.I.LE.D plays a large role in the film aswell. The easter eggs are very good, we have Ha...

    Well played sir... 1

On paper this film should not work, Thor as a concept just doesn't seem like a summer blockbuster. Well kudos to Kenneth Branagh and co. as this film is amazing! They've kept the plot and story relatively simple, I didn't explain one bit of the premise to my girlfriend before we went in and asked her at the end if she followed it. "What's to follow?"If she's able to understand the concepts of this film then the general public should have no problem. Take that massive hurdle, combine it with the q...

Opening the Bifrost for fun 2

Thor is the latest of Marvel's movies and in the fact the first of three out this year. From start to finish Thor is a great film full of action, character development and good humour, with thankfully not a lot of Avengers signposting that ruined Iron Man 2.   The best thing about Thor is all the characters act like their comic counterparts.  Chris Hemsworth potrays all aspects of Thor perfectly, capturing the arrogant Thor, the more down to earth Thor and the noble hero version. Anthony Hopkins...

Hooray for bulky norse gods 0

Not everything in this movie is good. Special effects are spectacular (probably better if seen in 3D), ok, and the story is easy to follow even for non-fans. There were many funny moments that helped a lot making the movie more enjoyable and the acting was almost always good. Two things in this movie I don't understand: the path to humility that Thor ‘follows’ and his love story with Jane Foster. You may notice that these points include 50% of the plot. Odin banished his own son, stripped him...

    Mighty Thor 1

Storywise this was a meticulous and powerful movie, presenting an interesting and accessible plot to any viewer, consisted in telling a little of Thor´s origins, the eternal rivalry between Asgardians and Frost Giants (Jotuns from Jotunheim), the turbulance relationship with Thor and Odin and it was great how the director (and scripter, and editors, and producers) managed to shape all this godlike story in a swift transition of the story to Midgard, where Thor would learn to be worthy of...

    "Grounded" for our Needs 0

Two Brothers. Two Enemies“For Asgard!” Norse mythology has never looked better than it did in the most recent Marvel Studious movie: Thor. Thanks to Comic Vine’s 3-Minute Expert my Thor knowledge was elevated but when I watched this movie I could not really call myself a Thor aficionado. Then again, Marvel Studios has been doing an amazing job at introducing characters that non-comic book readers are unfamiliar with. Why was this a good movie? Besides that fact that the casting was amazing and th...

    Hail The Mighty Thor! 1

Thor is finally out, a good half a decade for decent depiction of the Thunder God, and it pays off big time! In the Marvel Studios produced film, Which means Marvel has all the rights to their rightful characters(not like certian other films like Fox), this means Ironman and The Incredible Hulk films are tied in together, which is really freakin' awesome. So anyway, In Thor, Thor(Chris Hemsworth), The Norse god of Thunder, is about to inherit the throne of Asgard from his All Father, Odin(Anthon...

    Well that was EPIC!!! 0

The movie was litterly was of the best if not the best comic book movies of all time. The iron man movies had Mr. Robert doing them, and that was fine, but he was already an established actor and he brought his own personality into the movie. Mr. Chris is not a well know actor. I've never even heard of him before Thor. That's why it is so good. He completely loses himself in the role. The guy who does Loki does this too. He was a pretty good actor. Ms. Portmand did a exellent job, Idra was aweso...

Better than i expected but with flas never the less 0

NOTE: this is not a spoiler free review, I figured that if your on comicvine to begin with your going to watch the movie either way and in order to really evaluate the movie, certain spoilers must be present.  So once again, I repeat: this review HAS SPOILERS. The spectacular:   The thing that shined the most for me was the family tension between Odin, Loki and Thor and that whole plot line with Thor becoming worthy, I felt that it was just really well done.  Which also gives testament to the wo...

    Most Worthy... 0

Since the so-called "Avengers Initiative" was put into place by Marvel Studios; building up characters and franchises in anticipation of the huge crossover film directed by Joss Whedon; they've been putting out consistently solid film efforts.  Many of these could even be called great.  However, where Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk are somewhat grounded and based in technology and science, Thor concerns itself with deities and Shakespearean melodrama.  Does this dramatic shift in tone sink Mar...

    Hammer Time 6

Part of the reason Thor made sense to me as a strong comic character that Jack Kirby could forge into a modern mythos is that Jack Kirby understood in North America comics are like our Pantheon of Gods.  Thor worked in Stan Lee's goal to steal ideas and claim them as his own... Sorry Marvel fans, Stan Lee did not create Thor, the Norse did and The Hulk is Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde as examples.   J. Michael Straczynski (or JMS) is credited for the story and that makes sense why this movie was enterta...

    Thor Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!! 0

I enjoyed Thor so much. It was a great story to enjoy and had a great cast. Thor being taught a lesson of humility was great and helped him understand being a hero. The story was great and action was blast. It looked amazing and really showed Asgard really well. Overall I'm giving it 4/5 because it had great action, laughs, and really cool ending.   SPOILER WARNING: Click here to reveal hidden content.Loki is on earth and you'll see the Cosmic Cube...

    "Thor" Was Great 0

This movie is very good. I don't care what anyone says about this movie. It was very good. A lot of people said that Chris Hemsworth sucked as the character of Thor. The story line was great.    The only problem I have with this movie is that through most of this movie is that Thor isn't really Thor through a lot of this movie. This is because Thor disobeyed Odin's orders by not going and fighting the Frost Giants. By that Odin strips Thor of his uniform and his mighty hammer. thor is then shot...

ThorSynopsisThor gets banished to Earth and must now reclaim his powers and title of Thor while the Frost Giants are waging a war against the Asgardians. The GoodWhat can I say about this movie? The next successful Marvel movie ever since Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk came out. Kenneth Brannagh did a great job as the mighty Thor. He was quite funny as he got stucked on Earth and tried to adjust being a human. Not only he had to act as a human but to reclaim as Thor and faces his own brother. L...

The bigger they are, the more I'm let down. 1

So I was geeking out about the Thor movie for a whole year while they kept releasing more and more footage little by little. I mean here was a movie on epic proportions and it was made by MARVEL. Anyways, I'm flipping out until the day comes where we finally get the chance to go see it and it had an ok start, everything definately looked a little fake but I saw past that. I understand there is only so much one can do when dealing with other worldly creatures. But my main problem was that there d...

    All round great review. 0

This much like Iron man really gives us an insight to where Thor starts as a character in the MCU and how his actions and consequences encourage Thor to change. He is brash, hasty, quick to act without much thought and considers him self to be better than everyone else to some degree even challenging Odin and his decisions. But after being on midgard and falling in love with Jane to having to Sacrifice his love to save the Frost Giants home world. He went from selfish to selfless even going as ...
