Thor Odinson is the All-father of Asgard /God of Thunder, offspring of All-Father Odin & Elder-Goddess Gaea. Combining the powers of both realms makes him an elder-god hybrid and a being of no perceivable limits. Armed with his enchanted Uru hammer Mjolnir which helps him to channel his godly energies. The mightiest and the most beloved warrior in all of Asgard, a staunch ally for good and one of the most powerful beings in the multiverse/omniverse. Thor is also a founding member of the Avengers.
why is thor weak in the movies
@coolcat4: Because Marvel are idiots and let Chris Yost write the screenplay. He has stated his dislike for the character and everything he writes with thor, he gets his a$$ handed to him. This movie would've been way better had he not been on it.
Because giving a good story is more important that just showing constant feats of strength and power for us geeks to ague over in battle threads.
I'm pretty sure every CBM character is weaker that his comic version.
Kurse in the comics is X4 Thor's strength. He should in fact be able to destroy Thor in any sort of physical confrontation. That said, Kurse just batting away Mjolnir was high end even for him.
it pains me to see thor depicted s weak its a disrespect to thor fans it too thor two hands to hold hulks one hand, thor and hulk are euals in strength as written by stan lee.... and it was so for so long that is what made their brawls epic..... now thor is soo punny and weak..... marvel disgusts me.....

hhahahahhah
i love this guy
@fernando072295reborn: Didn't he take a hit from stormbreaker and mjolnir at once ?

If I recally correctly, Yost wrote Thor in Avenging Spider-Man and had him tanking Electro's anti-matter blasts that should've ripped apart Thor, but he managed to resist the blasts long enough for SpOck to capture Electro. I'm pretty sure that's one heck of a durability feat.

@pyrogram: Just don't see a reason to bash a writer when he's provided Thor with one of his most impressive durability feats as of late ;)
Thor has never been able to physically harm Kurse. He's always been a guy Thor had to find other ways to beat because Kurse was pretty much created for the sole purpose of kicking Thor's ass, like how Doomsday was made to kill Superman.
Most comic book characters movie versions are nerfed.
I think the only ones that weren't are Reeves Superman (I mean he never sneezed away galaxies, but flying around the world to reverse time ..-.-) and Dr Manhattan.
@cmartin: If you were a real Thor fan you'd know that Thor himself has admitted he can't physically beat Kurse. Every single physical fight Thor has had with him since he became Kurse has gone pretty much the same as it did in the movie. Kurse beats the s**t out of Thor until another way to beat him is found.
@crom_cruach: Or they were showing a spot on representation of what has happened every time Kurse and Thor have had a fist fight.

Not wolverine. (take X3 for example)

nah wolverin sucks in the movies
gets butt whipped in X2
gets owned by sabretooth in origins
and neither were close fights. he doesn't at all seem to be a trained warrior/assassin/ninja but just a guy with super powers
I didn't have a problem with Kurse being stronger than Thor. I look at the scene differently. Kurse beat the holy heck out of Thor and Thor walked away from that with nothing more than a few bruises and scrapes. That was an incredible feat of durability. The movie Thor is generally ill-defined in terms of raw power. He either just beats the holy heck out of hordes of people (battle scenes on Jotunheim and Vanaheim from both films come to mind, or vs. Chitauri), or he runs into a brick wall (vs. Kurse). The Thor/Hulk skirmish in Avengers was the only real moment of uncertainty as to which character has the advantage (as that scene was meant to portray, I'm sure).
Everyone is weaker in most of the hero films not just Thor. Bruce had a hard time lifting that piece of wood of himself in Batman Begins.
Thor is woefully misrepresented in the movies. Thor was created to be the most powerful character on Earth the hulk included. Stan Lee has made reference to this many times and I wish that these guys that make the Marvel Movies would take the time to get to learn the characters. For all of you Hulk fans here is a link to one of Stan's interviews about it. I hope that this will get to someone do that Marvel Studios will stop getting stomped by DC and the awesome movies they are making.

For Aasgard really... ?Thor is not weak at all... i mean...
i know that people are going to bomb me like hell for saying this but his destructive power was almost equal to MoS... and he was fighting against a dude who had the reality Gem... a power that was universal... and the Kurse thing... well he's Kurse... and do not bring me the ironman fight because there is a really good explanation to that... dark magic.
Yeah most movie characters are nerfed but Thor is nerfed too much. His best feat is needing two hands to block one of hulks and crushing iron mans armor. Decent, but he should be tossing cars and stuff like that. Even spiderman lifted a car. I really don't think he's anywhere near hulks strength level z which is a shame.
@coolcat4: correct observation. Plus hulks hands are huge. Whether you're as strong or stronger than your opponent, you still need leverage to hold something that big up. Thus both hands were required. Not for strength but for balance.
@thunderingthorfan: ya that's exactly what i was thinking after careful revue. To make sure since hulk fans make there claims
Nah, the film versions of both Hulk and Thor are pretty pathetic compared to the comics. Especially Thor without Mjolnir, who looks like quite a chump.
Thors nowhere near as strong as he is in the comics but I wouldn't call him weak
Effortlessly owned a frost giant army/ The Destroyer in Thor 1
Was able to hold his own against a Infinity Stone Possessed Malekeith in Thor 2.
Held his own against The Hulk in Avengers, who was enranged and trying to hurt Thor while Thor was only trying to restrain him, Thor tanked a punch to the face and smiled about it, Thor hit Hulk with his hammer and Hulk was visibly momentarily dazed.
Tanked a blast by Iron Man who was powered at 400% without showing any signs of damage whatsoever, all it did was annoy him.
Was able to escape a chamber designed to contain The Hulk.
Took out a shit load of Chitiri in Avengers with a massive lightening attack.
In fact in all three films hes appeared in so far, the only person who does any significant damage to him is Kurse, who in the comics is stated to be at ther VERY least twice as strong as Thor.
Because If he's as powerful as MoS, he doesn't need the Avengers.
He isn't too weak. Plus Kurse is pretty strong.

LOL LMAO!!!!!!!
@cmartin is pretty funny. his thor complaints always use to crack me up to.. looks like he stopped posting
@coolcat4: because there would be no need for most of the Avengers.
