Thor Odinson is the All-father of Asgard /God of Thunder, offspring of All-Father Odin & Elder-Goddess Gaea. Combining the powers of both realms makes him an elder-god hybrid and a being of no perceivable limits. Armed with his enchanted Uru hammer Mjolnir which helps him to channel his godly energies. The mightiest and the most beloved warrior in all of Asgard, a staunch ally for good and one of the most powerful beings in the multiverse/omniverse. Thor is also a founding member of the Avengers.
classic thor was by far the best. he showed us his true power and abilities, took on powerful foes, developed character growth, morals, and was simply awesome. i would prefer NOT to talk about some of his more modern showings
Thor's just a total badass in the Marvel Universe. I like the fact that every other superhero really do treat him as a God - they're always terrified or overjoyed when he appears XD
I like the mythology and the other Asgardian characters. I like Thor because he's noble, can be jolly and friendly, but also be serious and badass when fighting. Also, he's powerful, has interesting abilities, and Mjolnir is cool.
Can't help but love the way he talks as well (as long as it's not overdone). I say thee NAY!
This and I like his comics and the fact that he is marvels "superman" but isnt like the superman clones outthere.
I love his fighting spirit. Truly he is a "Warrior Born". He is the Avengers big gun. No matter who they face Thor is never really taken aback. He is always the first into battle and the last to retreat. He is the most powerful hero on Earth even if he is sometimes not written that way. In his solo series he taken on Galactius and Silver Surfer. He takes it to beings like Surfer and the Hulk and Thanos. His hammer is one of if not the best weapon in comics (barring weapons like the cosmic cube and IG). I also love the way he talks.
he's the most humble "down to earth" hero. All other heroes are sarcastic and spoiled but THOR he's a very open, cool, humble hero. He's always looking over the lil guy. it takes a humble mind to be a huge THOR fan.
When I was a kid I was super into mythology. Any myth I could get my hands on I would absolutely adore and when I started getting into Marvel comics I discovered Thor. At first I wasn't an enormous fan, but one time I just picked up one of his comics and started reading. It was at that point I looked at this character and I was in awe. His adventures were crazy cosmic, his mythology was interesting, and his stories felt like they were on a grander scale. They took place in a godly realm, something with magic, something awesome. When Thor speaks, it feels like a god is talking, he doesn't talk down to people, but you can feel the power in his words. It all just fit so well.
His ties to Norse Mythology, his versatility as a character and the stories you can tell with him. His nobility, kindness and power are almost unparalleled, He's a god trying to find his place among men. The journey Thor makes from young brash warrior to noble aged hero and finally eventually old wise and all knowing king is inspiring, epic and downright captivating.
He's also a character who often gets overlooked in the discussion of best comic book runs of all time (barring Simonson's run there are so many other phenomenal runs to look at) and other than Daredevil and Spider-Man I'd say he's one of the few marvel characters with a consistently good title (toss up between him and Cap but im inclined to lean more towards Thor).
Thor has had some phenomenal runs in his time as a marvel hero and one needs to look no further than Stan Lee, Walter Simonson, Dan Jurgens, J. Michael Straczynski and Jason Aaron's work to see why I love the character. Specifically Aarons God Butcher Saga (along with Thor God of Thunder #12 which i consider to be one of if not the best single Thor issue of all time). As that story shows Thor is simply more than a god and a hero.....He's the greatest god and an immeasurable hero. He's freaking Thor and no one can compare (Except for Superman and Captain America lol)
Thor is the warrior born the hero without equel he is the shout in the dark and unlike what Jasson Aaron says he does not doubt his worth every day. He is a leader a bold one at that and he has led countless armies to war. So much to work off of that any good writer has stories for life times. Without changing his sex.
@dcandmarvelcomicfan: I think anyone who hates Thor is unfair to the character...for me mostly i think they feel threatened his backstory is one of the best ,he has awesome villains,he's a deity,royalty and EXTREMELY powerful with impressive feats.
