Who are the strongest people on Asgard besides Odin & Thor ?
Thor
Character » Thor appears in 8593 issues.
Thor Odinson is the All-father of Asgard /God of Thunder, offspring of All-Father Odin & Elder-Goddess Gaea. Combining the powers of both realms makes him an elder-god hybrid and a being of no perceivable limits. Armed with his enchanted Uru hammer Mjolnir which helps him to channel his godly energies. The mightiest and the most beloved warrior in all of Asgard, a staunch ally for good and one of the most powerful beings in the multiverse/omniverse. Thor is also a founding member of the Avengers.
Who are the strongest on Asgard ?
In terms of physical strength or overall power? Limiting it to Asgard or the whole nine worlds? Major characters only or anyone who has appeared once?
If Asgard related beings Skurge would be up there in terms of physical strength. Vidar also probable would not be that far behind.
If you include the whole nine worlds Ulik is stronger than any Asgardian save Thor or Odin. Fafnir the dragon is as strong as if not stronger than Thor. The likes of Mangog and Surtur strength is far beyond Thor.
If you mean in overall power, Loki, Skurge, and Freya are all up there. Outside of Asgard, aside from those mentioned and Hela Ymir would be one of the strongest.
Out of the Asgardians it's probably either Balder or Sif.
In pure physical strength, Sif and Balder usually are not ranked that high. At best, they are above the average Asgardian, but not above the Warriors Three or some of the more obscure Asgardians like Vidar.
@betatesthighlander1: @perethorn: Though Kurse resides in Asgard, or did, not sure about current whereabouts, he is not an Asgardian. He is Algrim the Dark elf.
The strength levels/limits of many Marvel Asgardians has been defined in the various editions of "The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe." Though these definitions have not always been exact and have been disputed, they do provide reasonable estimates & guidelines for these characters' strength. I have placed an asterisk (*) next to those characters whose strength definition is not found in any "Handbook" edition. In those cases I have estimated based on text and feats found in comics. Using the various entries for these Asgardian characters these, besides Thor and Odin, are the physically strongest Asgardians.
Incalculable
- Bor - Well over 100 Tons max. lift
- Magni - Well over 100 Tons max. lift (The future son of Thor and Asgardian God of Strength)*
Class 100
- Hela - 100 Tons max. lift
Class 50
- Vidar - 50 Tons max. lift
- Brunnhilda - 45 Tons max. lift
- Hildegarde - 40 Tons max. lift (Though her strength has never been officially defined, this is where I rate it)*
- Balder - 35 Tons max. lift
- Volstagg - 35 Tons max. lift (40 Tons in his physical prime)
- Tyr - 35 Tons max. lift
- Heimdall - 35 Tons max lift
- Hogun - 35 Tons max. lift
- Fandral - 30 Ton max. lift
- Sif - 30 Tons max. lift
- Hermod - 30 Ton max. lift
- Frey - 30 Tons max. lift
- Loki - 30 Tons max. lift
Other well-known Asgardians, including Amora, Karnilla, Sigyn, Lorelei and Idunn, have all been rated at a 25 Tons max. lift.
The below listed characters, though not actually true Asgardians, are from the Asgardian realm/dimension and are thus worth mentioning.
Incalculable
- Surtur - Fire Demon ruler of Muspelheim
- Ymir - Oldest and most powerful of the Frost Giants
- Jormundgand - The Midgard Serpent
- Kurse - 400 Tons max. lift (As Algrim he could lift 90 Tons. His strength was made double that of Thor and later doubled again)
- Destroyer - A weapon, not actually a living being, that has shown physical strength greater than any Asgardian.
- Fafnir - Former king transformed into an enormous dragon-like monster by Odin
Class 100
- Utgard-Loki - 100 Tons max. lift
- Ulik - 95 Tons max. lift (Said to be physically as strong as Thor but has never been listed over 95 Tons.)
Class 90
- Malekith - 90 Tons max. lift when magically enhanced (Normal strength limit is 50 Tons.)
Class 75
- Executioner (Skurge) - 65 Tons max. lift
@powerherc: Pretty impressive list. I tend to think the Marvel strength scale is perhaps not the most accurate scale. Kurse for example is (if I remember right) 3x stronger than Thor who has planetary feats (midgard serpent, the world engine...). So, my guess is Kurse could lift far beyond just 400 tons. Handbooks I think are probably fine as long as they don't contradict what a character has shown they are capable of in continuity. Additionally, some of the more updated information is included on Marvel's web site. But, yeah, pretty much I agree with the hierarchy you have listed. Very impressive.
odin or thor
The OP said "other than Odin or Thor."
@betatesthighlander1: No. Kurse's race is dark elf, not asgardian. I wouldn't become african if I moved to africa.

so people who immigrate here will never be American?

Thanks for looking it over. Thanks for the compliment.
@betatesthighlander1: Why are you turning this into a racial thing? You know that isn't what I meant. You're just provoking arguments.

your question was who was the strongest "on Asgard"
Kurse lives on Asgard
@betatesthighlander1: So I read it wrong. Geez. You don't have to be like that about it.

so just the genetically asgardian?
@betatesthighlander1: It wasn't my question. ask @kgb725: for clarity.

No worries. The research speaks for itself!
Would Mangog count?
No.
Mangog isn't Asgardian nor does he reside in any Asgardian realm.
@powerherc: Where is he from then?
@powerherc: Where is he from then?
It's been explained that Mangog is from an ancient evil empire that attacked Asgard ages ago. It's not clear where his world is, I've never seen his world or realm shown, but it is alien to Earth and Asgard.
