Thor Respect Thread
NiteFly says:
"I miss the beard. It always felt more Norse to me."
I agree. I've always like Thor (at least when they don't write him "cheesy").
But why does his new costume have quilted sleeves and pant legs? At least they're going back to making the "medallions" on his costume actual, functioning pieces of metal and not just painted on circles. I hope he comes back with a load of post-Ragnarok badassness.
hahahaha, I cant help it, I gotta do it.
Brad: Sarah, have you seen my Clearasil?
Sarah: Yeah, I ran out of brown. Look Brad, I figure its my best one yet. I got the cap and the hammer, even the special helmet.
Brad: You wasted my zit cream on another picture of Thor?
Sarah: Thor's my hero
Brad: Thor's a homo

Odin and Valhal eventually do fall according to Norse MYthology
but I am sure you all knew that!
lol
OK
"Put all cool pictures and etc with Thor here"
that's not a respect thread
It's a cool picture gallery. A redpect thread shows feats of the character etc.

Go MotorSteel, go!
I would like to quote Manowar right about now.
Black clouds on the horizon
Great thunder and burning rain
His chariot pounding, I heard the heavens scream his name
I watched as he shouted
To the giants who died that day
He held up his hammer high and called to Odin for a sign
Thor the mighty, Thor the brave
Crush the infidels in your way
By your hammer let none be saved
Live to die on the final day
Gods, monsters and men
We'll die together in the end
God of thunder, God of rain
Earth shaker who feels no pain
The powerhead of the universe
Now send your never ending curse
I watched as he shouted
To the giants who died that day
He held up his hammer high and called to Odin for a sign
Thor the mighty, Thor the brave
Crush the infidels in your way
By your hammer let none be saved
Live to die on that final day
Gods, monsters and men
We'll die together in the end
Swing your hammer to crack the sky
Lift your cape so that you might fly
Back to Odin and the gods on high
And leave the mortal world
Thor the mighty, Thor the brave
Crush the infidels in your way
By your hammer let none be saved
Live to die on that final day
Gods, monsters and men
We'll die together in the end
Odin
So...
With respect to Thor. Stan Lee, when EIC of Marvel comics, always referred to Thor as Marvel's most powerful superhero. He seemed to be represented as such by Marvel comics long after Stan moved on to greener pastures. Until the JLA/Avengers crossover. What do you guys think about the outcome of his fight with Superman (particularly when you factor in Superman's weakness to magic, ie, being cut by a magic tiara, pierced by a magical arrow...)? Do you guys still think Marvel respects Thor the way he should be respected. In my personal opinion, Marvel seems to have inadvertantly promoted the Silver Surfer as their new top dog. How much is Joe Quesada to blame for Thor's showing in the JLA/Avengers crossover?
Thoughts?
Thor respect thread, eh? To bad we can't get the editors at Marvel comics to feel the same as us, right? I don't think where Thor is today is where Stan Lee, his creator, meant for him to be. He was created by Stan Lee to be Marvel's most powerful superhero. Jim Shooter who took over after Stan Lee stepped down as EIC, shared Stan's vision of Marvel's most powerful superhero being Thor. It was because of Jim Shooter's courageous stand that the original suggestion for a JLA/Avengers crossover was shot down. Why? Because Shooter would not allow Thor to be defeated by Superman in a comic book. Period. Superman can be cut by a magic tiara or pierced by a magic arrow...but can't be hurt by a being whose very essence is mystical in nature and whose weapon is forged of magic....and who is just as strong? Whatever. JLA/Avengers crossover stunk of politics. I mean we read comics to get away from all that baloney. Why do I have to eat a chunk of it while reading my favorite comic book?
Oh how the mighty have fallen since then. Superman fanboy Tom Breevort himself, under the less than illustrious Joe Quesada regime, was the main proponent of Superman beating Thor in the JLA/Avengers crossover. And it is under Quesada's oversight that we now see Thor getting molly whopped by people like the Iron Patriot and the U-Foes. What a bunch of horse puckey. It's obvious to me that current Marvel editorial doesn't share that early vision of Stan Lee/Jim Shooter. Hey...I say give Marvel what it is they are wishing for and stop reading Thor. They don't want to write him the way he should be written, in essence that is what they are asking for right? I say don't spend another penny on Thor. Sorry, people, the Thor vision is gone. Time to find a new favorite superhero.
Thor was intended to be Marvel's most powerful overall hero. I like that idea. I think Marvel would do well to return to practicing it.
The Hulk and Hercules can be stronger. The Juggernaut can be more invulnerable. Captain America can be more highly respected.
Adam Warlock and Dr. Strange can be wiser. The Thing can be tougher. Spider-Man can be easier to identify with. Wolverine can be cooler.
The Punisher can be more driven. The Silver Surfer can be more cosmic. BUT NO OTHER HERO should ever be more powerful overall than THOR!
Not Phoenix. Not the Silver Surfer. Not Dr. Strange. Not Black Bolt. Not the Scarlet Witch. Not the Sentry. No one. Not ever.

I would be alright with phoenix being more powerful than him because it's not jean grey's power it's her tapping a multiversal force
but I agree Thor is kind of marvels superman he should be the most powerful so in the word's of Ironman "Thor is the greatest avenger."
in the words of rick jones "Thor is greatest warrior."
@powerherc: Not really. Both Hulk and Hercules have no strength feats ANYWHERE in Thor's range! Besides, Thor is a god. Full Asgardian and Elder god. Hercules is half human and hulk is All human. Because of that flaw, neither of them can, nor should be, as strong as Thor!
