I'll admit, I picked this issue up solely due to Matt Fraction taking over, but wasn't sure which Fraction I would get, the Uncanny X-Men or Invincible Iron-Man version and I have to say I was blown away. I have no real knowledge of the character, his history or supporting cast, but Fraction has gotten me excited for this arc with the ground work he is laying. Plus Pasqual Ferry on art is looking really good to me.

Did anyone else pick this up? If so what are your thoughts?

@fenixREVOLUTION:  I thought it was really well done too. It was obviously a set up issue, but I really like where i looks like Fraction is bringing this. I think we are all in desparate need of a cosmic adventuring Thor again, and this should have plenty of it. I think Fraction will do a great job here. I'm also a huge fan of Ferry's art so far, and Hollingsworth's colors. It just gives off this epic feeling and makes what is happening in Thor feel so large in scope. Fraction's writing helps that too, obviously.

Only thing that threw me off a bit at first was how Thor spoke. It's a little different from how he was speaking in his solo comic before this, and in the Avengers. Fraction may be doing this on purpose though, like being on earth for so long has rubbed off on Thor's speech a bit. But it really isn't a problem and I'm sure I'll get used to it quickly.

Overall, great. I'm really looking forward to the next issue.

@ckal: The cosmic aspect of this book is what has me most excited. Most of the books I read now, aside from Green Lantern are pretty much street level crime, but I love Batman, so what's a person to do? Hope this delivers as big as I think it will.

I have, unforunately, not picked this one up yet.  While I love Thor more than anything else in the Marvel universe, I'm in-between things right now.  I need to decide if I want to wait until the TPB is released (which seems very far away), just pick up the series issue by issue (the most expensive of the options), order up a subscription to the series, or just download the issues (something I would want to avoid).

I need to decide soon before I fall behind.  :(

its confuses me, *SORRY FOR THE SPOILERS* but I need to clear this up. the inhabitants of Alfheim (land of elves) are living peacefully there in one of the branches of the World Tree then another race of demon-like creatures invaded their realm. Now the confusing this is: Ragnarok is the end of things. Did the elves, including the trolls and the frost giants and what have you also perish in the Ragnarok saga? If they died who brought them back? Thor only brought back his fellow Asgardian Gods and a few enemies from Loki's deception. What issue did this happen?
