Looks Like THOR Has Been Cast
It seems that when he first read for the part, he wasn't given a test screen because the casting director passed on him. He was later given another chance and blew everyone away. Guess we'll have to see if the casting director had any idea what they were talking about.
Now that Thor's been cast, let's hope they actually begin filming soon. The movie has a pushed back the original July 16, 2010 release date. Last I heard, it was moved to June 17, 2011 but Deadline Hollywood is listing it as May 20, 2011. Either way, let's get this thing going.
What do you think of this choice? Does he look like he could be Thor?

O.K., I just read Methos' post and commented. I think G-Man expalined himself although he didn't need it. Hopefully Darkchild is just giving G a ribbing. Like I said on Methos' page, I can see some resemblance.....SOME....to a young Thor in his face, but that is about it. He looks rather slim. As we ALL know, Thor is a bit muscular to say the very least. I'll also repeat this: Why do the studios keep choosing Aussie actors for the super hero roles? Are they cheaper? (I'm not complaining, just observing) Bwa Haa Haa....Anyway, I am really on the fence about this news, but at the very least...something is moving towards the film getting started.
"@G-Man said:I think Pix meant in general, not even in the movie. Just watch him sit around for an hour and a half on the beach or something. ""What if the movie is closer to 2 hours? "
" Well, it's color-based, which makes it rather obvious who is who. I'm grey, he's red. Like a filthy communist. "
i've only ever seen him in star trek for the 5 whole minutes he was in it....so i guess I'll have to wait until the 50 trailers start coming out to pass judgement
Its just a good sign to see someone cast as Thor. I wonder what other Asgardians are going to make an apperance in the movie.
I hope he can do Thor well. Thor is one of my favorite Marvel heroes and I hope he doesn't get screwed up.
"@pixelized said:What if the movie is closer to 2 hours? "" I'd watch him for an hour and a half. "
I reckon he could be Thor.. He's blondish, male and reasonably good looking.. If he's an average actor I'm sure it will be fine. To be honest I don't think it's the actors who cock the films up.. Its the directors and writers who ruin the roles and story.
That is possibly the most half-assed, apathetic, pointless comment I've ever made.. And I've made a few. Apologies.
" this dude better go on the 300 Spartan workout, and grow his hair out, otherwise I am not seeing this "
"@SUNMAN said:Do you seriously think he won't be hulked out for the movie? It's not scheduled for release until 2011. I also seriously doubt he'll grow out his hair. They'll almost definitely use a wig. "" this dude better go on the 300 Spartan workout, and grow his hair out, otherwise I am not seeing this "
"well, I don't know super hero movies have been botched in the past so anything is possible. And wigs are lame I want some natural hair "
Not meaning to sound negative
But I think a Thor movie is totaly a bad idea.
Theres no way they can make this movie without staying true to the comics and not making it look 'cheesy' .....
