How does one enter Asgard? Can they simply walk in? Say a fellow Avenger wants to meet with Thor, can they simply walk into Asgard?

Also, besides Asgardian Gods residing there, are there like normal humans that reside in Asgard as well as Thor's servants? Does Asgard have it's own military, like bodyguard, etc? I know of the Valkyries, but do they have bodyguard, like say an Asgardian Military or Army?

I'm no Asgardian expert, but I do know you usually cross the Rainbow Bridge.  But there have been other ways, like teleportation.

So, there really isn't like an army, like a different race there protecting the Asgards? The Asgards themselves are the army?

To be somewhat picky, there is actually a pile of exquisitely decorated rubble residing in Oklahoma at the moment so one would enter by avoiding the many severed heads and crumbled archways. :P

Usually you need either some dimensional portal, or a friend on the inside. While it's in Oklahoma though, you need only a long enough ladder. Asgard is populated solely by Asgardians, most of which have normal attributes for an asgardian, I.E. Greater density, strength and stuff. They act as the military and the guard and every other "normal" function. Then there are a couple of Asgardians who have greater powers than normal, and these are the actual Gods. Thor, Balder, Odin and so forth.

This map might help a little bit.

As you can see there is more to "Asgard" then just the Shining City. The land is populated by Dark and Light Elves, Dwarves, Frost Giants, Demons, and even the dead (honored and dishonored).

Currently, Asgard is residing in Midgard(Earth) more specifically Oklahoma. So as of right now, you can walk right up to Asgard. Before Asgard came to Earth, you would have to either take the Rainbow Bridge or teleport to Asgard.

In Norse Mythology Asgard is only occupied by the Aesir, Odin and his brothers had created humankind from two ash trees named Ask and Embla. Humankind must stay in midgard and cannot enter Asgard physically but mentally. Humans may enter valhalla only after death. That's how ive come to know it.

@Larkin1388:  I do remember Bill (Kelda's lover who was a human) lived there for a bit until he was killed. At least I think he lived there, or was just visiting constantly.

Also, before Asgard was located in Oklahoma, how would one find and walk the Rainbow Bridge Bifrost? I mean, where does it start in Midgard? Or is it simply that one must teleport to the Rainbow Bridge?

The rainbow bridge is located near Yggdrasil, The World Tree, which connects the nine worlds together.

@Larkin1388:  Ohh right. So technically one would have to stumble across say, the part of Yggdrasil connected to Midgard then if they were to find Bifrost?
