Has Branagh Found His Thor?
There hasn't been any confirmation as to whether or not this will be Thor. Latino Review did confirm that Branagh was at the restaurant in question. I haven't seen "Generation Kill" so I can't speak on this guy's acting or physical attributes. All I know, is they better get started on this movie. I'd imagine with all the Asgard scenes that there may be some CGI involved in post production.
The other thing, does this mean that one dude we talked about doesn't stand a chance now?
generation kill is an awesome mini series you guys should check it out
He's very thin from judging by the images that came up when I googled him, but otherwise I think he's got the look. Honestly I don't think I would feel too let down if Thor wasn't exactly the same size as in the comics. I'm sure Skarsgard can put on some weight for the role too.
I can't speak to his acting either.

Somewhere in this video clip, Skarsgård says that he does not like loudness.
I think that would present a certain obstacle with Thor....
This is probably the same as Eva Longoria coming out of a Marvel office with comic books...
except he's the fan-favorite's choice for Thor, so... we'll see.
Please make him the ultimate version of thor! he's way more realistic than the classic (dont get me wrong...it works on the comics, but it would look too asterix-y on screen i guess)...if he'd grow a beard he'd look EXACTLY like ultimate thor.

The guy looks like him sort of. They should have him work out so he becomes bigger, then he'd look like Thor even more.
I'm sure Brannagh will pick someone who can act... so I'm just chuffed he picked someone who can act and looks right for the part :)
"I already miss "some dude"lol
"
They better start casting soon instead of having a million rumors.
He was so, so amazing on Generation Kill and he's terrifying yet hilarious on True Blood. I could see him as Thor.
well he has the look. But they are plenty of people they can get the part for a Saxon Viking warrior. All they really have to do is take a nobody from that country to portray the character. Believe me I know what I'm talking about because I'm an actor as well.
I do not know about this guy's experience, He has definitley has to appear 6-7 ft tall, but has to at least weigh 210, the best thing is to pick someone who is about 6'4 that weighs about 230-250 lbs. Otherwise a 5'10 person who wells 210 would justify it. Rember Thor is big therefore he has to appear Tall but also stocking looking.
He looks right. Seems like he can act. I'm sure they'll have him in the gym bulking up the day after he gets the part, so size won't be a problem.
I'm satisfied.
Ritchson doesn't have the Thor build exactly like it is in the comics, but he is still really big. If he grew his hair out and had some facial hair, he wouldn't look so young. He is much bigger than Brad Pitt, especially height wise. Triple H may work, I don't know. He has the size, but I don't know about his acting ability.
"Thor is looking at a July 16, 2010 release date. That means Kenneth Branagh and company have to get moving on actually starting this movie. The lastest news is that perhaps a contender for Odin's son has been found. Latino Review received an e-mail from a reader saying they saw Branagh having lunch with actor Alexander Skarsgård, seen in HBO's "Generation Kill" miniseries.I would not mind this at all.

Unfortunately, I don't see this actor portraying the role as Thor, so here's hoping this doesn't happen. Also, having seen the pictures on various sites, he's scary looking and not hot.
As for Alan Ritchson, I would LOVE to see him cast as Thor. He's got a great body and he works out a lot. Plus he's a talented actor on Smallville.

If he works out, eats a few meals, and gets the same kind of lighting as that picture, he will be just fine.
