Can anyone compare Thor to Shazam (aka Captain Marvel)?

I mean they battled before in DC vs. Marvel and does anyone think they have similarities?

Can anyone compare their strengths and powers?

    Compare their identities?

Compare their enemies like Loki and Black-Adam?

They don't really have too much in the way of similarities aside from being two of the top-tier bricks of their respective universes. At their base stats they might be similar (superhuman strength, speed and durability, flight, etc), but then that’s true of all characters in this bracket. There, really, the similarities end.

Thor is a God, the son of a skyfather and an elder goddess. Shazam is a human kid powered by gods, later retconned to be elder mages. Thor is the god of thunder and therefore commands the storms, and Shazam can call down lightning, though originally it was not an offensive capability. Realistically, plot wise, story wise or anything else, aside from their base roles, there is really nothing similar about these two.

The only stuff that's similar, is they both got a bout the same strength, and both can command lightning.

In the early Thor Comics when Donald Blake had to turn into Thor they had a vague similarity in that a frail person gains the powers of the gods. And both did change via a lightning strike, outside of that they aren't very similar

Actually, I see a few similarities between these two.

Both have powers based on mystical/magical origin.

Both are top tier bricks in their respective universes.

But who else thought this was a logical fight in DC vs. Marvel? i mean Thor is always Marvel's answer to Shazam (aka Captain Marvel)

@Jakesully1981: I always thought they were especially similar back when Thor was still Donald Blake.

While quite similar one has the power of god's and has had it for thousands of years whereas the other is a kid trying to do the right thing.

Plus I hear Thor has a bigger hammer ;)
