Good news for those of you that may have missed out on this issue.  It's got some pretty sweet looking artwork.  I ran a preview for it so you can check it out under Thor's News section on his page if you missed that too.  A second printing is due next month.

Marvel is pleased to announce that the critically-acclaimed Thor: Ages Of Thunder has sold out at Diamond (though copies may be available at the retail level)! To meet the overwhelming demand for the story of Thor’s fall from grace, Marvel is going back to press with Thor: Ages Of Thunder Second Printing Variant, as Patrick Zircher’s stunning interior art graces the front cover. Written by Eisner-nominate, Eagle Award-winning scribe Matt Fraction and gorgeously rendered by Zircher, this is the Thor book that fans and critics agree is a must-read! IGN.Com declared the issue a must-read, exclaiming, “This is one fantastic comic and any self-respecting Thor fan should throw it in their weekly pile… Zircher's work is spectacular”

“All of us here on Team: THOR - AGES OF THUNDER are pleased as punch to discover that America enjoys the sight of Ice Giants getting brained with giant hammers as much as we do,” said Fraction. “We look forward to carrying that momentum forward through this upcoming time of transition, where we will continue to deliver the big hammer brainings America demands under the new guise of Team: THOR - REIGN OF BLOOD. Thank you.”

Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on Thor: Reign Of Blood, as the team of Fraction & Zircher continue to generate rave reviews from all corners and reveal an important part of Thor’s history!

This post relates to: J. Michael Straczynski, Marko Djurdjevic, Thor, Odin

I have to say that I've been enjoying Thor.  I've mentioned before how it's always been hit and miss with me.  It's been interesting seeing Thor "search" for his fellow Asgardians.  Wonder if he will find Thor.  What's gonna happen to him.  We've already seen what happened to Loki.

Thor #7 and #8 have both sold out at Diamond and Marvel is going back to press on a Must-Have collecting both scorching-hot issues in Thor: Search For Odin Must-Have.

Writer J. Michael Straczynski is joined by special guest artist Marko Djurdjevic (Daredevil) for a two-part story collected in Thor: Search For Odin Must-Have which finds Thor searching for his father Odin. Hoping to restore Odin to his former life as Thor has already done for many Asgardians, the Thunder God may be in for the fight of his recently restored life as he finds his father locked in a battle that neither of their combined efforts can hope to win.

Thor’s return to the Marvel Universe continues to wow critics and fans alike as the Thunder God’s new ongoing series has been hotter than lightning.

Thor: Search For Odin Must-Have is the latest example of why Thor is one of the hottest characters at Marvel right now so don’t miss your chance to pick up this marvelous must-have.

This post relates to: Avengers, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk

So as everyone's been buzzing about, we have a bunch of Marvel movies to look forward to.  Hopefully with the success of Iron Man, they'll see what works.  One great movie won't carry a bunch of bad ones.  I don't want Marvel rushing to get out a bunch of mediocre films when each one should be done right.  They need to ask what made Iron Man a success.  The actors?  Story?  Characters?  You can't just slap together a film with comic characters and expect it to be a success.  We just have to keep our fingers crossed.

This morning Marvel Studios announced four new films slated for 2010 and 2011, including two Avengers-related movies!

With Iron Man's cinematic debut currently blasting through box offices throughout the country, fans can expect a second film to hit theaters on April 30, 2010! And a few months later in July, the mighty Thor himself will wield his enchanted hammer across the big screen courtesy of director Matthew Vaughn!

Pumped yet? You should be—and you haven't heard the best part! The summer of 2011 will kick off in style with a Captain America movie, followed just two short months later with the July-debuting Avengers!

Want the very first looks at how the Marvel movie universe is already tying together? Be sure you stick to your seats until the very end of "Iron Man"—yes, all the way through the credits! There's an extra special, extra exciting, extra scene guaranteed to thrill!

Plus, as first revealed at New York Comic-Con 2008, catch Robert Downey, Jr.'s cameo as Tony Stark in "The Incredible Hulk," smashing into theaters on June 13!

That noise you hear in the background is the sound of Marvelites the world over rejoicing, True Believer! So get ready, because these next few years are going to be one heck of a good time!

This post relates to: Thor, Matt Fraction

Hmmm...usually when I see tales of Thor in Asgard, it just puts me to sleep.  I know I may be in the minority but there's just something about the stories in Asgard that don't interest me.   Buuuut, seeing some of these images may be making me change my mind.  As powerful as Thor is, you don't really see him let loose very often.  It's like he's too polite to really get down and dirty.  Check out the blood on his face.  Check out Thor in bed with (gasp) more than one fair maiden.  What happened to you Thor?  If these stories are correct, when did you turn into a softy?  I guess I'm just gonna have to check this out to see what a bad ass Thor really can be.  Plus it's written by Matt Fraction!

As Thor continues to deal with an uncertain future after the return of the missing Asgardians, readers can now look to the past and examine the long, arduous road that brought him here! Thor: Ages Of Thunder, a double-sized special from red-hot scribe Matt Fraction (Immortal Iron Fist, upcoming Uncanny X-Men) and fan favorite artist Patrick Zircher (Thunderbolts) explore the events leading to the mighty Thor’s bonding with the human Donald Blake as he wages war with the terrifying Frost Giants. But just how does a tragic tale of the Enchantress and the legendary villainy of the trickster Loki play into all this?

With Loki’s involvement in the critically-acclaimed Thor, this issue is perfect for fans looking to learn more about the Marvel Universe’s greatest deceiver…and just what makes Thor the man he is today! Don’t miss the double-sized Thor: Ages Of Thunder!

This post relates to: Thor, Marko Djurdjevic, Odin

Issue 7?  I just picked up issue 6.  Haven't read it yet.  I have to say that I've been enjoying this series of Thor.  Thor has always been hit and miss with me.  I think I've always liked it when he's on Earth (or should I say Migard?).  The adventures set strictly in Asgard just seemed to bore me for some reason.  Can't really explain why.  I do like how Thor has to find all his fellow Asgardians.  It makes sense that these "gods" can't die.  As long as people remember them, they should be able to live.  In this issue we'll see the return of Odin.  I'm surprised to see Mark Djurdjevic doing the interiors here.  Nice.

Acclaimed cover artist Mark Djurdjevic joins the thunderous hit series Thor as special guest artist for a two-issue arc that promises to turn the God of Thunder’s world on its head! Writer JMS (The Twelve) has brought Asgard to Earth, transformed Loki into a woman and pitted Thor against Iron Man…so what could JSM have planned for Thor’s father, Odin? Has he been found? And more importantly…should he be found?

As a special bonus, Djurdjevic and regular series artist Olivier Coipel have teamed-up to create a special variant cover for this issue—and you need to see the results of this superstar jam to believe it! This stunning image is also available as the Thor By Coipel & Djurdjevic Poster!

Thor’s world has been rocked by the machinations of others, but will the return of his father set him on a path of no return? And what of Loki’s machinations with the deadly Dr. Doom? If you haven’t checked out one of 2007’s most critically-acclaimed new series, then don’t miss Thor #7, kicking off a series of events that promise to shatter the status quo!

This post relates to: Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man

Okay the writer's strike sucks.  I'm sure we can all agree on that.  I get why it's happening.  People are entitle to what they're entitled to.  From a selfish point of view, it sucks.  But the good news, no great news, is Marvel Studios have come to some sort of agreement.  Read on for yourself:

Marvel Studios, a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, Inc., and the Writers Guild of America (WGA) announced today that they have reached an interim comprehensive agreement that will put writers immediately back to work on the Marvel Studios development slate. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“We're very excited about our summer releases, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, and look forward to resuming work with writers on our future projects including Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man, and The Avengers,” said Marvel Studios Chairman David Maisel.

“Marvel Studios' signing of an interim agreement with the Writers Guild is more good news for our membership,” said WGAE President Michael Winship and WGAW President Patric M. Verrone. “Marvel is committed to fairly compensating their writers and now they can move forward with their planned production schedule.”

I want more comic-based movies.  Let's hope things continue to go smoothly and we get some more great flicks to look forward to.

If you want to read the rest of the press release or want more information on the Writer's Guild of America, go to www.wga.org/subpage_newsevents.aspx

This post relates to: Olivier Coipel, Thor, J. Michael Straczynski

I've been liking this series.  I've said it before that I've always been iffy on Thor's adventures.   I think when it's all based in Asgard, I just start to get bored.  Yeah I like a good adventure but I think I'm more into the god/human ties (except for Thunderstrike, ugh, who's idea was the lightning bolt earring?).  I especially loved the showdown between Thor and Iron Man.  Thor has become one of titles I look forward to once again.  And with issue #5, maybe Thor will be getting some soon.

Marvel is proud to announce that Thor #4 has sold out at Diamond (though copies may be available at the retail level). This is the Odinson’s fourth consecutive sell-out since JMS and Oliver Coipel re-launched the series in July. Due to the overwhelming demand for the issue, Marvel is going back to press with Thor #4 Second Printing Variant, featuring Oliver Coipel's interior page of Volstagg, Fandral and Hogun -- The Warrior's Three -- as the cover!

“Thor #4 uses Thor's human half to tackle a real world crisis as only comic books are capable… it succeeds quite well in blending fictional gods with very real conflicts,” says Jesse Schedeen of IGN.com

Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on Thor #4 Second Printing Variant and all future issues of the series, as the first four issues have sold-out.

Also, be sure not to miss Thor #5! With Heimdall’s help, Thor quickens his pace, and continues to search far and wide for his Asgardian brethren. But will he be prepared for who he finds next! Where there is Thor, there must also be… Sif!?

In other Thor news, word is the movie will most likely be delayed due the the writer's strike.  It's set to begin shooting at the end of 2008.  No idea if it will still be released in 2009.  The good news is the plan is to film in jolly old England.  That means we won't get the golden hills of California in the background.

This post relates to: Thor, Michael Turner

Sheesh.  I thought the first issue was good and all but who's buying them all up?  Wonder what the print run was on those.

Marvel is pleased to announce that Thor #1 Second Printing Coipel Variant has sold out at Diamond (though copies may be available at the retail level)…and the issue will return for a third printing! Featuring a black & white sketch version of superstar Michael Turner’s red hot Thor #1 cover (also available as a full color poster), Thor #1 Third Printing Turner Sketch Variant will arrive in stores to meet the overwhelming demand for the God Of Thunder’s return!

“We’re excited to see such a strong response from critics, fans and retailers to this electrifying re-launch of Thor,” said David Gabriel, Senior Vice President of Sales & Publishing Circulation. “Not only was this the number one book in July, but we’ve now sold well over 200,000 copies, reminding fans why Thor is one of the most enduring Marvel characters. And if you’ve enjoyed the series thus far, just wait till Iron Man and Thor battle it out in Thor #3!”

The critics can’t stop raving about the series, with Newsarama.Com’s Troy Brownfield exclaiming, “With intelligent writing, great art, and a renewed sense of vision, Thor is definitely succeeding.”

Superstar writer JMS and red hot artist Olivier Coipel continue their thrilling rejuvenation of Thor in Thor #3, as the titular hero confronts his former ally Iron Man. How will the two deal with the effects of Civil War? Let’s just say that’s neither one is getting out of there without a few scratches! And if you missed the second issue of this series, make sure to pick up Thor #2 Coipel Wraparound Second Printing Variant, revealing just how Asgard returns! This post relates to: J. Michael Straczynski, Olivier Coipel, Ed Mcguinness, Thor, Iron Man

The title speaks for itself...

Because you demanded it, the God of Thunder battles the Armored Avenger in Thor #3! Following the first two sold-out issues of this brand new series, acclaimed scribe JMS and red-hot penciler Olivier Coipel bring you the much demanded confrontation between Thor and Iron Man, raising the stakes for both heroes! During Civil War, Tony Stark and his allies produced a deadly clone of Thor, which not only ravaged many heroes, but killed the Avenger known as Goliath. Now that Thor has returned in earnest, it’s time for a reckoning with his former teammate and that means all out action! Featuring two covers—one by Copiel and one by superstar Ed McGuinness—and a confrontation that will move heaven, earth and Asgard, this is the issue of Thor you can’t miss!

“The landscape of the Marvel Universe has changed radically in the past few years, and Thor now returns to a post-civil War environment which has seen hero face off against hero, registration become law, and is, all in all, a remarkably different America from the one that he left,” explained series editor Warren Simons. “His first encounter with Iron Man is going to address some of these points, especially the question of what happens when you take a God’s genetic code without his permission.”

Critics and fans alike continue to praise this electrifying new series, with Brent Specher of SilverBulletComics.Com gushing, “J. Michael Straczynski is an excellent storyteller… Coipel infuses energy into every scene.”

With the first two issues selling out almost immediately, Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on Thor #3. And don’t miss your second chance to pick up Thor #2, now with a new wraparound cover featuring the interior art of Olivier Coipel. Plus, get a special look at the past, present and future of Thor, with loads of exclusive content, in Marvel Spotlight: Thor!

Two of Earth’s mightiest heroes wage war—and you won’t believe the outcome in Thor #3!
