Theron was the secret son of the Jedi Grand Master Satele Shan but, unlike his mother, was not Force sensitive. Realizing that if anyone found out about her son there would be serious repercussions, Satele took Theron to her former master: Ngani Zho. Ngani did what he could for Theron but refused to believe he wasn't Force sensitive. So at the age of 5, Theron was sent to the Jedi Order to begin his formal training. Unsurprisingly, the Jedi rejected him and, in time, Theron became a spy for the S.I.S. instead.

    Creation

Theron was created by Alexander Freed for the Star Wars: The Old Republic - The Lost Suns, one of the comic book tie-ins to the popular MMORPG The Old Republic.

    Biography

Theron was the offspring of Grandmaster of the Jedi Order Satele Shan, and Supreme Commander of the Republic Jace Malcom. Due to the fact Jedi are not allowed to have any emotional attachments, Satele having a child risked a potential fall to the dark side. She decided it was in her, and her son's, best interest to sever all contact. She put him in the care her former Master, Ngani Zho, who later trained Theron in the ways of the Jedi in an attempt to uncover his potential Force abilities. Unfortunately, Theron was not Force sensitive and was told by the Jedi that he had no more to offer them. Ever since he has harboured a small amount of resentment for the events that took place, although less towards the Jedi themselves.

    The Lost Suns

Theron is on Coruscant, assigned to follow and interrupt a meeting between the Black Sun and a Twi'lek smuggler named Teff'ith. After defeating the Black Sun enforcers he captures the Twi'lek, and decides to keep her arrest off the books for a while, until he learns more about her and her criminal involvement with slavers.

He returns to the SIS director, and is given a new assignment to track down and rescue his former Master, Ngani Zho, who had gone missing after the Great Galactic War. A vagrant matching his description was spotted trespassing at an outpost near the Imperial border. The Director claims if Master Zho is behind enemy lines, he could be the "edge we're looking for." Theron's task was to rendezvous with him and find out everything he knows regarding the Sith Empire.

Theron returns to his ship, where Teff'ith is still locked up. He asks if she is ready to talk about her criminal history. She said no, so Theron decides to keep her for longer and bring her along on his new assignment.

Theron and Teff'ith arrive on the planet Taris, where Theron within a couple of weeks finds Zho. Zho seems somewhat eccentric which can be attributed to the long time he spent behind enemy lines and possibly his old age. He also appears to have a hampered memory, as he asks Theron how his mother is doing, despite Theron having no contact with her and him previously knowing this.

They are ambushed by Darth Mekhis' Sith Knight, which were moulded after former Jedi Knights, making them too formidable even for Zho to deal with. After deciphering that they have no glaring vulnerabilities, Zho and Theron make their back to the ship to escape. They run for ten minutes until they arrive, to see Teff'Ith standing on the extended ramp of the ship wielding a blaster rifle. Theron cautions her that if she's going to shoot him, she won't be able to deal with the Sith Knight droids or pilot the ship to escape. She then decides to shoot the droids instead, allowing the group to escape.

Theron reports the news back to the Republic Director, telling him about the deteriorating mental state of Zho and that whatever the Imperials did to him, took away his memories of what happened.

Still, Darth Karrid, commander of the fearsome Imperial battle cruiser Ascendant Spear, continues her relentless efforts to achieve total Sith domination of the galaxy.

But Karrid’s ruthless determination is more than matched in the steely resolve of Theron Shan, whose unfinished business with the Empire could change the course of the war for good. Though the son of a Jedi Master, Theron does not wield the Force—but like his renowned mother, the spirit of rebellion is in his blood. As a top covert agent for the Republic, he struck a crucial blow against the Empire by exposing and destroying a Sith superweapon arsenal—which makes him the ideal operative for a daring and dangerous mission to end Ascendant Spear’s reign of terror.

Joined by hot-headed smuggler Teff'ith, with whom he has an inexplicable bond, and wise Jedi warrior Gnost-Dural, Darth Karrid’s former master, Theron must match wits and weapons with a battle-tested crew of the most cold-blooded dark side disciples. But time is brutally short. And if they don’t seize their one chance to succeed, they will surely have countless opportunities to die...
