    Grisly Morsel

    Flesh eating zombies! Yummy!
Simon Garth is a character from the spree of horror titles in the `70s and I`d never read any comics with him featured in it, so this one took my fancy. It wasn`t bad - not great, like I`d hoped - but not bad. Simon Garth doesn`t really take much part in this first issue. In fact, not much does seem to take place in it, but then this is the opener. I seemed to finish it pretty quick.
Its like the shock prequel before the opening titles run at the cinema. Although, I imagine an increasingly blood-splattered tale will unfold with the following issues.
I`d heard this series was brutal and explicit as stated on the cover, and of course it`s pretty grisly. I wonder if a generation of comic readers already sated on the likes of Marvel Zombies would find this mundane?

The plot is an army helicopter crash in the woods of Ohio. The chopper  was carrying a zombified Simon Garth, who has now gone walkabout...but worse, the serum used in reviving Garth has contaminated one of the army personnel on board the downed `copter - cue, rampaging hungry zombie...
The arts not bad, reminded me alot of Ploog.
All in all, I found this alright, and I`ll read the next three parts because I like horror, and anything with EXPLICIT stamped on the cover encourages the curious. But I can`t help wondering what this is missing...
