Things are looking dreary for James Howlett. AgentM has tweeted the upcoming film's latest poster and it sets quite a powerful tone.

The Wolverine will be based on Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's classic story (WOLVERINE) which sends Logan to Japan. As an outsider, he'll clash with samurai (of the silver variety) and fall in love.

They've also released a Facebook cover image of the poster and a motion poster.

James Mangold is directing the film and it's expected to hit theaters July 26, 2013.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this movie. I really hope it is good enough to erase his last solo movie from my mind forever. haha

Awesome poster! But then again a great poster never means a great movie so, I'll remain optimistic yet watchful.

I really want to look forward to this movie, but I can't say that I'm not fearful for it. I'm a little worried on how it's somehow suppose to tie into the other X-movies and wish they would just do a standalone Wolverine movie instead of trying to make him another X-Men movie.

I always wanted to read the Claremont/Miller Wolverine story. Never got around to it. I hope it's good and the name 'James' is never mentioned anywhere. :)

I hope Hugh Jackman is in the actual movie, because I sure haven't any posters so far where he doesn't just look like a cardboard cutout version of himself, or like someone drew him in Photoshop.

They are really going all out to make sure these Wolverine posters are all excellent! That certainly doesn't translate into a good film, but I have faith that they've learned from their mistakes. I don't even think X-Men Origins Wolverine was all that terrible.

BTW, you can't call Logan a runt anymore as he has been played by Mr. Jackman for quite a while.
