A college professor of criminology John Raymond by day; but by night in his green and yellow costume know as The Web. Where he dealt with them in a more practical manner of trapping criminals, as he traps them, in a web of their own creation. His interest in the subject went back to childhood, when his own brother, Tom, hanged with wrong crowd where he ran afoul of the law. Form that point on professor John Raymond would wondered what cause a person to take such a destructive path in their life, and made a career of trying to find out.

Creator: John Cassone
He first appeared in the 27th issue of Zip Comics, where Steel Sterling was well established as the main star. The artist was John Cassone, who had credits at Quality Comics and Hillman Periodicals. According to house ads, the story had originally been intended for Top-Notch Comics, which starred The Wizard and The Black Hood, but was transferred because of a decision to emphasize humorous features in that title.
Current Incarnation
The Web is currently owned by DC comics. John Raymond felt burdened by the superiorty of his brother, David. When David was killed for money, John used his identiy as The Web to track down the murderers, leading him deep into New Yorks drug buisness.
