Now that we know Chris Evans will be playing Captain America, who’s the next character whose live-action casting everybody’s going to speculate about? How about Rick Grimes of THE WALKING DEAD? He may not be an illogical, but fitting, member of Image’s Guardians of the Globe, but the amputee survivor’s still getting his own TV show (or TV pilot, at least) on AMC. And, according to Bloody Disgusting, after some contention already, Englishman Jonny Lee Miller’s running ahead of the shuffling zombie pack for a grab at the role.
Forever and ever, this guy will be Zerocool from HACKERS to me. That movie, of course, was the coolest in the world if you were nine-years-old in ’95 (like I was). Angelina Jolie made her big splash to the greater public therein, playing hacker mistress Acid Burn. Having read THE WALKING DEAD, what do I think of this casting? I don’t know - - I’d say the proof is in the pudding for this one. Miller can, and has, pulled off an American accent. However, if it weren’t him, who would you, the undead-evading Comic Vine community want to play Rick Grimes?
While Grimes’ real life alter ego hasn’t been locked down, his partner in law has. Jon Bernthal, who you might have seen in the current epic HBO mini THE PACIFIC, has signed to play Shane. If you’re familiar with the series, you’ll know that their relationship doesn’t exactly stay too friendly as the zombie apocalypse rolls out.
So we’ve got two cleared, but a long list of names to fill out still. Who would you want to play Grimes’ wife, Lori? Or his other friend, Tyreese? Or that psycho-crazy killer lady, Michonne?
