Well, that was quick. For a long while, AMC’s plan was to just a produce a WALKING DEAD pilot and then let the response warrant whether or not they’d make an actual show. Something must have bolstered their confidence in the interim because, now, they’re opting to go ahead and produce a whole season of the show. Or I suppose, since it’s clocking in at only six episodes, it’s more of a half-season like the first season of the American OFFICE.
Were I to hazard a guess, I’d say that the amount of attention the series’ pre-production has gotten likely made AMC a little more certain that this will be a success. Were I so bold as to hazard ANOTHER guess, I’d say that Frank Darabont and Gale Anne Hurd will only be covering WALKING DEAD’s first trade over these six episodes.
So far, the only actor that’s been cast is Jon Bernthal as Shane, while Jonny Lee Miller is in the running for Rick Grimes. So I figure, why don’t we whip up the rumor maelstrom and start our own casting call, right here. We’ve already got picks from some of you, but that is simply not enough. GothamBat thinks that Tyreese “ Mayhem” Gibson should play Rick’s pal and former pro footballer, Tyreese, Angelfrost wants Emmanuelle Vaugier as Rick’s wife, Lori, and Aerik’s convinced that Jason Lee should, in fact, play Rick.
That still leaves bat-droppings crazy killer Michonne (and I’m sorry, Illyana Rasputin, but she is crazy). What about Rick’s son Carl? Or young dude scraper Glenn? Or the sadistic Governor? I want NAMES, people!
