Samurai Jesus and Hipster Carl (Walking Dead #127)
(QUICK UNPROFESSIONAL REVIEW)
This is what the Walking Dead needed. I wasn't a big fan of the whole All Out War arc. This issue completely shifts the series with a 2 year time-skip. This is really a new beginning for the Walking Dead comic and this is a great jumping on point (But I still highly recommend you read it from #1)
This completely felt like a new book with different characters getting an appearance change. Jesus now looks like a badass samurai, Rick has a frickin' beard with a futuristic hand hook and Carl is a hipster! The female on the cover is a new character along with some other new characters joining Rick's new community. It looks like Rick has been doing a damn good job being a leader and rebuilding society. Charlie Adlard killed it with the work this issue. I would say the artwork in this issue is some of the best Walking Dead art yet.
I thought Walking Dead was getting a bit uninteresting after that #100, but Kirkman hooked me right back with with some big changes to the series. Everything was on-point with this issue and I highly recommend it. Now, there are so many different directions the series can go.
This is a great start if you want to start reading the series. I can't wait to see where Kirkman takes the series from here. If you any of you are reading Walking Dead in trade, I'm sure you will love. Also, this comic was 2.99$ with 45 pages of story. How can you pass on that? I have to give extra points for the cheap price. 9.5/10!!!
