    New Snyder Book!

It's really refreshing to get in on the ground floor of a creator's new idea. And with a writer who is continually climbing the the ladder of awesome its just great to read something like this.

What We can Love About The Book:
I really loved the art all the way through the issue. The two pg first part was neat and I felt It was a good hook. In the second part started off slow and this and part 3 take up the longest part of the book and seems to be the driving story for the book overall. I really enjoyed the layouts through the issue too, I felt if gave a nice flow to the book. The way the book ends is with a one page seperate part of the book that got my hopes up about a time travel touch to the book.

What We Can Find Frustrating About The Book:
I dont find the relationship of mom and son all that important. And when one character shows up its was the classic recruiter phase of the book and I dont really enjoy those. I dont enjoy the jumping around time but the last page gave me hope that it might work out better with some sort of time travel maybe? but if its going to do that a lot and it not be better explained it's just going to get very frustrating like The Thor book thats currently out.

    With Their Powers Combined:
The book is a great first issue and I think this will be an awesome 10 issue series, with a great artist and it being snyders book. I did spoil the ending with the monster for myself so I knew what was coming. I'm still kicking myself for it guys. Fortunately meeting the characters wasn't disappointing and I think I'll really enjoy them all as they become fully formed. As I stated I'm happy to get in on this from the get go.

Do you remember the Eighty’s? A time when horror movies where original? Remember such films as ALIEN? Or THE THING? Scott Snyder of Batman fame sure does, and it really show’s in his new book The Wake from VERTIGO/DC comics. The story starts off well enough, we meet an unnamed blue haired girl, who just happens to be gliding above the flooded ruins of a once great city. The art here is gorgeous, but I would expect nothing less from artist Sean Murphy. We meet her cyborg dolphin Dash(that’s right...

THE GOODPage 4 and page 20. You're welcome. Sean Murphy doesn't have to draw well for the rest of the series. There're also plenty of nice splashes throughout (the helicopter at the start of Chapter 3, the guy with the screwed up face on page 23, and page 24 (though not a splash)).At some point, Scott Snyder is going to stop doing horror comics and I will be very sad. Everything is just so dark and foreboding. I love the idea that this character (Lee Archer) has had a terrible past, and she mee...
