Tom Taylor's life was screwed from the word go. His father created the mega-popular Tommy Taylor boy-wizard fantasy novels. But dad modeled the fictional epic so closely to Tom that fans constantly compare him to his counterpart, turning him into a lame, Z-level celebrity. When a scandal hints that Tom might really be the boy-wizard made flesh, Tom comes into contact with a mysterious, deadly group that's secretly kept tabs on him all his life. Now, to protect his life and discover the truth behind his origins, Tom will travel the world, to all the places in world history where fictions have shaped reality. From Bill Willingham to Ed Brubaker, from the LA Times to Ain't It Cool News, THE UNWRITTEN has won over fans, critics and pros. Now, don't miss the first collected edition featuring the first five issues of the overwhelmingly acclaimed Vertigo series.

Your short term game needs work. 0

You can write for an issue and just get most of the plot done in one issue, you can write for an arc to really stretch your story out. The thing is, at the end of the arc I want some idea of where this story is actually heading. I didn't get that here, the story has a neat cliffhanger but using common sense I know that's nonsense and they won't do that. So... I am just kind of confused. We meet Tommy Taylor, his dad wrote something like Harry potter but even more popular and then just kind of we...

Harry Potter meets LoEG, written like its a BKV story 0

The unwritten is Harry Potter meets LoEG, written like its a BKV story.  What does that mean?  Well Tommy Taylor is like the new Vertigo Harry Potter and Harry Potter was a kid friendly Tim Hunter.  So this is like a recreation of a Vertigo classic and I love it!  It is League of Extraordinary Gentlemen because of the literary character who are walking the world.  It is also like a Brian K. Vaughan Book, because BKV's main characters always know a lot of "unless"...

While the Sandman is Asleep and the Invisibles are Invisible 0

A brilliant start to what I imagine continues (and will continue) to be a brilliant series. I've read this and that of Mike Carey's over the years and I've liked him but with the Unwritten - a story about stories (about stories?!)- Carey seems to have found it - 'it' being HIS story. In the last 30 years or so, there have been many great comic series that have come and (in some cases) gone. If the Unwritten stays as good as these first five issues, then it will have earned it's place amongst the...
