Hello, Old Friend
Since Vengeance of Moon Knight/Shadowland: Moon Knight has finished, I decided that I'd pick up Uncanny X-Men to fill in the spot, since I want an X-Men title and Uncanny is supposed to be the ''core'' series. It's been over two years since I've bought an issue of Uncanny X-Men (#500), and whilst I knew the gist of what's happened since then, I didn't know exact details. I did know, however, that some members of ComicVine hate Matt Fraction's writing on Uncanny, and so I was slightly unsure what to expect from this.
Fortunately, the recap page sums up everything I needed to know nicely, so there was one problem out of the way. Maybe I'm just lucky to have started reading this issue when it's a ''perfect jumping on point'', but having read the recap, I felt like I knew everything I needed to. The plot itself is mostly setup at this point, but Fraction still manages to make that interesting by introducing various subplots that will likely explode into a finale by the end of the arc. In other words, the various plots that make up this issue are:
I'm mostly familiar with Claremont's run on Uncanny, and even though this is pretty different and more modern, it still feels like the X-Men to me. Keep Fraction on Uncanny, Marvel, because this is exactly what I've been expecting and what I want!
