    Review: Uncanny X-Men #530 8

There's a new disease outbreak that only affects mutants. Meanwhile, a new breed of X-Men is being created, and the Collective takes over Japan's underground crime syndicate.  The Good It's a new storyline in the Uncanny series and it's another really interesting one. The "Quarantine" part of the storyline is probably the weakest of the three stories in the book, but it's still pretty strong, especially when you find out how effective this new mutant-disease is. I'm really interested in The...

    Mutants Can't Get AIDs!!! 2

There's a flu pandemic breaking out on Utopia and it's threatening to take a few big guns out of the picture. Meanwhile, due to the islands quarantine a foe from the X-Men's past makes a power play to replace them with his own team of mutants.   The Good If you didn't enjoy/didn't read the 5 Lights story arc then this is a good jumping on point. Fraction wisely detaches his latest narrative from his past arc allowing for a story that's accessible to new readers. He even gives Emma a nice little ...

A Double Decker Awesome Sandwich packed with Action 1

The cover is slightly misleading, but an outbreak has occurred on Utopia. The island is on shut down, no one in, on one out. Meanwhile, Emma Frost, Fantomex and Kitty Pryde  are off dealing with the secret that is the Sebastian Shaw, secret prisoner, situation. Elsewhere, some lab has concocted a mutant serum for your everyday regular folk who have paid to be part of this new mutant team. Copying the powers of  a certain famous team too, I may add.  Great Issue. Full of action and flows really w...

    Hello, Old Friend 0

Since Vengeance of Moon Knight/Shadowland: Moon Knight has finished, I decided that I'd pick up Uncanny X-Men to fill in the spot, since I want an X-Men title and Uncanny is supposed to be the ''core'' series. It's been over two years since I've bought an issue of Uncanny X-Men (#500), and whilst I knew the gist of what's happened since then, I didn't know exact details. I did know, however, that some members of ComicVine hate Matt Fraction's writing on Uncanny, and so I was slightly unsure what...

Got a little fever Logan? 0

Greg Land is back and that´s reason enough for buying  this geat issue! Fraction´s aproach of a theme that´s responsible for wide world paranoia is excellent! What causes more fear in people than diseases and contagion? Specially when the flu attacks only mutants, homo sapiens starts to feel more and more insecure. Will this disease spread outside Utopia? Summers is doing a magnificent job trying to avoid that. Having a quarantine in the island and making it public was very ethical and a good PR...

An Exciting Holiday Surprise for X-Fans 0

Wow, what a surprise this issue is. It is easily the best of the last five or six issues of Uncanny, and I think a 'lot of that has to do with the change of pace from the last issues--aka, no mention of Hope and the departure of Whilce Portacio. That being said, this issue still has some annoyance factor to it, so let's get down to business and talk about the good  the bad and the ugly of this, the 530th issue of Uncanny X-Men.   What was good?  Oh boy. There were so many things in this issue th...

Cover is as bad as the inside 5

I can honestly say that this issue is just as bad as the cover insinuates.(personally i think this is the worst cover ever for an Uncanny X-men issue). Matt Fraction finally started a good run on  Uncanny X-men starting with issue 515. Unfortunately, this issue is back to the same level as his first stories in Uncanny from around 500 till 514. The plot of an outbreak of a dangerous desiece on Utopia on its self  is a very interesting  one. The way it was laid out, less so.  What irritates me the...
