Very x-women
Admittedly the first not drunk review! Aww man now this one is gonna suck. lol
The Lead Up-Everything in The Return of hope, Emma's role in Utopia, and Kitty's sacrifice at the end of Astonishing X-men in Whedon's run.
Art- The interior art is less impressive. The three artists have an excelleng understanding of debth, but occasionally the female faces just look so damn weird. This is another case of an artist who is best at drawing their own gender, happens to the best of artists.
Writing- In the x-men titles this has the best pacing. There is a good balance between the different storylines that are being addressed here, without anything feeling too long or short. Matt Fraction has a good sense of the characters, especially in how they would react to certain conflicts that arise. I'll admit, Emma is one of those characters that writers can't always understand, but Matt seems to have the right idea.
Cover- As for cover art its hard to not like Terry and Rachel Dodson. This cover does an excellent job of driving home the fact that Hope is effecting the world (there are 5 new mutants, sweet!!!). However, it could have been pushes as a purely Hope composition, to add in Storm says “look we have these two lady characters, read!)
3 spanks out of five- Worth each spank, but one slap is needed in the back of the head for the art. Comic books are such a visual medium, and should be treated as such. And upon afterthought, this comic is very focused on female x-men characters, and Namor. So I guess this means that female x-men fans should pick this up (girl power and Atlantian hotness!)
