    The Return

    Rant
When I initially came to CV I intended to review every issue of Joe Kelly and Steve Seagle’s
run of x-men, it was and still is underrated and often forgotten. Now I’ve finally completed that mandate (yay) . From X-men#67-79 and Uncanny #351-359  and Marrow fans have my continued x-men coverage of her entire run while an X-man (that’s ongoing lol) Kyle Fans I’m still covering his run I just wanted to complete my initial MO. Now the review!

    Summary
Someone is recruiting Mutants on the eve of the x-men’s first confrontation with Magneto so long ago. At the end of recruitment we see Charles Xavier is the recruiter after being missing since taken into the custody of the government and Operation Zero Tolerance.

On a cruise ship the classic three kitty, kurt and pete are making there way back to America and Xavier’s. The ship is attacked by a group who claim to be X-men, they capture Kitty as Kurt and pete save passengers.
This is not art acceptable on a 35th anniversary Issue...SORRY!

At Xavier’s, what’s left of the x-men Marrow, Rogue, Storm and Wolvie try to get in touch with Peter Corbeau who’s been captured. Kitty and the evil X-men meet with Xavier. The x-men meet with Valerie Cooper ad she gives them a lead. Back at Xavier’s Kurt and Peter arrive at an empty mansion. Kitty has a tearful reunion with Xavier who is emotionless as a machine, he tells her she is to save him as he has been bound to a machine and her computer skills will be needed if he is to survive. Kurt and Pete run into Cecelia who’s house sitting. She recognizes them and takes them to the classic blackbird  that was found in Uncanny #353 by Iceman, they decide to fix-er up.

Meanwhile the X-men have commandeered a normal craft to fly up on that lead. Marrow and Rogue bond. Elsewhere Kitty successfully hacks the computer system and an eerie light enters Xavier. He then has his evil X-men capture her as she has served her purpose and is now useless.

High Above, the x-men’s jet comes undone as the Evil X-men confront them , during the fight Marrow gets de-powered and the team is on the losing end. Kurt and Pete arrive in the nick of time to save them as Storm carries marrow to safety. Storm is then de-powered and  the x-men’s ship get shot down by the evil X-men.
    End of Issue

    The Good!
The whole issue is set up so Kitty, Nightcrawler and colossus who because Excalibur was canceled have nowhere to go
That sexy shiny cover you may not have gotten!

and marvel decided to scratch the initial team inherited by Joe Kelly and Seagle. The cover is an absolute gem, with its shiny foil surface and pose of the Evil X-men team. The mystery of Xavier has plagued the X-books around this time for about a good two years so its all up in the air why he’s evil at this point. The evil X-men are a great bunch pity they wont be going anywhere anytime soon……

    The Bad!
The art is an issue killer, color was bland, art was deathly chaotic. The art was just terrible!  Pedestrian read

    The Ugly!
    2/5 stars
