If this isn't perfection, then kill me! 2

Millar & Hitch's signature on the comic book industry is far from Over and the Ultimates should be regarded as a milestone in the Action Comics genre. The crazy but Top-Notch writing skills of Mark Millar and the superb drawing style of Bryan Hitch makes Ultimates 1, in my humble opinion, one of the best works in Marvel. Even though i'm a fan of DC over Marvel, one should appreciate the Epic Works when done.Captain America's appearance as a "Neanderthal" makes him funny, box-headed and stub...

    ULTIMATES ASSEMBLE!! 0

For those who didn't know this, the Ultimates are actually the Ultimate version of the superhero team Avengers. And by Ultimate I mean, completely different than anything I've ever seen. This book shocked me in ways I never could have believed. Mark Millar created a world of heroes, that were all flawed, dirty and in need of eachother. You could see them working together right of the bat. The insane, hard-hitting writing of Mark Millar is fantastic here. The electric dialogue, the revamped chara...

    THE ULTIMATES #1 1

MARK MILLER AND BRIAN HITCH ARE AWESOME! THE ULTIMATES #1 IS ONE OF THE BEST COMICS I'VE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE TO READ. IT HAS THAT DARK LOOK TO IT WHICH I LOVE. THE ULTIMATE INCARNATION OF CAPTAIN AMERICA ROCKS. BETTER EVEN THEN OF THE 616 VERSION. BUCKY BARNES ALSO MAKES HIS ULTIMATE DEBUT. HE'S NOT SO MUCH CAPS PARTNER AS THE 616 VERSION, HE'S MORE OF JUST A FELLOW SOLDIER AND GOOD FRIEND. MAN, AS SOON AS CAP HAS HIS FEET ON ENEMY GROUND HE OPENS A CAN UP ON THE NAZIS. REALLY GREAT. ONE OF TH...

    Great 0

This is just one excellent comic book. It is the perfect marriage of art ( Brian Hitch) and writing ( Mark Millar ). Beginning with Captain Americas last mission where he ends up frozen, The story then picks up in the future ( or present day ) where we see Nick Fury trying to put together a superhero team. The art has a kind of chaotic feel to it, that gives it an extraordinary sense of detail, that lets you almost feel what is going on rather than just being the observer that you are.  The writ...

    GN Review -- The Ultimates, v.1: Super-Human / Mark Millar, Bryan 0

After being exposed to the Ultimate Marvel universe through the pages of Ultimate Spider-Man some years ago, I was pretty excited to get my hands on The Ultimates books. The blending and re-imagining of familiar elements from the original universe into a more modern and edgier narrative made me wonder just what stops they would be pulling for the reworking of Marvel's premier super-hero team, the Avengers. How would they come together? How would they interact? What would be different? What would...

    Ultimate Comic 1

Ultimate Comic Here I go breaking my own rule. That said I needed to write about this comic and many of the reviews above me focus on the series.  Rather than this single issue.   How did I come to buy this book when I am not a big Marvel fan?  I don't remember?  It doesn't matter though.  What matters is that I did buy it and I have never been happier about buying a Marvel book in my life.    I have always liked Captain America but I haven't always liked how he was written as a character.  He ...
