I haven't missed a Halloween special episode yet, so I definitely plan on watching this. The spoofs sound a lot better than some of the recent ones that they've had. I'll post my impressions of the episode on Monday (probably).

I love the Simpsons! The new Simpsons aren't as good it used to be back in the 90's, but I'm still going to watch this.

Have they spoofed on Hostel yet?  Just curious. 
 
I love it when they spoof on Hitchcock, though, so I'll definitely have to watch it tomorrow night.

Simpsons used to be something I had to watch every time it was on. The Treehouse of Horror specials were always good. But like the rest of the show it has completely lost any magic it once had (for me and considering I'm not Emperor fo Earth that doesn't really mean much... yet)  I know it still has its legions upon legions of fans but for me it is simply not half as good as it once was. I mean, the halloween special with the shining spoof, nightmare cafeteria and homer's time travelling toaster is a classic and one which still makes me laugh myself into coughing fit. The ones of the past five years or so simply cannot compare. I blame that smug git Bono. I really do. And I shall explain why. The episode where Homer becomes the trash commisioner (that right? memory little fuzzy on exact details) and I recall U2 being guest voices. At one point I believe the Edge (is that his name? Anyway, he's a runner up for tosser award after Bono) says to another U2 member "oh here we go (inference to Bono) let's go to Moes and have a pint." I can remember this annoying me at the time (not sure how long ago it was) without really understanding now. But of course now older, wiser and hairier, I see why it angered me so. Moe's was always a dive. A place that only pathetic drunks like Barney, Lenny, Carl and whatnot drank in. Yet for some reason its become a place that celebrities want to hang around in (Eric idle did the exact same thing). Petty? Yes. Too pedantic? Certainly. But that is why Simpsons is no longer a show whose new episodes are must see. (that and the fact that Homer's reached new levels of stupidty and is no longer as endearing or funny, Marge just seems to whine all the time, Lisa was never a favourite character, Bart is.... meh.... oh I could go on but I won't.

yay...another hopeless year of the simpsons and another series of butchered horror movies the pain never ends...oh well i have futurama to look forward to in the future. atleast they are releasing in DURING/BEFORE halloween and not weeks later. and next year halloween is actually on a sunday...odds are they'll miss the date

I've always looked forward to the Treehouse of Horrors shows, but I can't believe its their 20th show. I know the show has been on for 20 years but didn't realize the ToH was also.

At least when Phil Hartman died they retired Troy Maclure as a character. Shows a lot of respect for the guy "

i dont really like the simpsons anymore. as a child i loved it and watched it all the time, but now that they are on like there millionth season there just isn't much an episode can be about anymore that will be funny... its long overdue cancellation. but i dont see that happening for a while.

I'm still curious to see how it turns out regardless.

This episode was forgettable, but the black and white effect was cool when it went all surreal! Overall though not a great Tree House of Horror.  I always liked the one where Kodos and Kang are the two candidates, "it's a two party system"  that one cracks me up.
