    Piecing it Together

    THE GOOD

This issue is ACTION PACKED. It starts out with the resolution from last issue's cliffhanger and then transitions back and forth between dialog and battle. Where as the last issue held a few pages of confusion for me, I was completely on board with the entire story this issue. Everything made sense and just made me want to read more of the arc.

Art - Another beautiful issue. I did enjoy the cover on this issue as well, but liked the variant more. I love the facial detail for all the characters, the flow of the shadow-matter wisping around during battle, and the full panel close ups on the Shade's eyes (both red and normal).

Writing - Another solid part of the story arc by James. His style is fantastic, especially for a new reader. I was able to quickly understand and get on board with the character, his personality, and his powers. At the same exact time I was able to familiarize myself with the other "guest" characters. I have to say, I am really liking the dynamic between him and Will von Hammer. They make a great team. I am really looking forward to the other DCU characters James connects into these story arcs for the series.

    THE BAD

I couldn't find anything wrong with this issue. 5/5.

    THE VERDICT

I highly recommend this issue. I would also recommend that you read the first issue in this series before you crack this one open. As Babs stated, "It's got everything you would want in a book: romance, action, and what is gearing up to be a very fun adventure." So, what is next in this adventure?

Who is this next evil looking character down under?

SynopsisThe Shade tracks down private detective Von Hammer, as they are stalked by the shadow-beast Bete-Noire !The GoodQuite a lot happens in this issue! The titular character says goodbye to his loves Hope and Opal City, comes across Von Hammer and generally a lot of action and excitement in-between. That's not even to mention how well things from Von Hammer's quirky fight scenes with the French gangsters merge with the Shades' to further drive the story forward, which is most excellently writ...
