Conan and his friend Tebnar are made a tempting offer by the local merchant class of the wealthy seaport city of Shar in Zingara. They must find and chart a safe route through the treacherous waters to an island veined with gold and inhabited by ghastly, bloodthirsty Cannibals. The journey is perilous enough, but the strange creatures they encounter on the island and the events that follow are not at all what the Cimmenan expected.
