Would The Sandman Make a Good Movie?

It was a pretty good read IMO. Not sure if it make a good movie, or show.  
What is your opinion. 
Hopefully it would do better than Jonah Hex.

I'd prefer animated series. You could do more of the stories and - depending on the channel - not bother censoring it. Would probably have to be anime style, since people seem to complain less about adult content if the animation is anime rather than standard Western style.

That's just too sacred for me, I don't want hollywood anywhere near this masterpiece.

True, animated series would be better..

I think an animated mini-series would be great. I've wanted to see such a thing forever. Just take one story arc and adapt that (The Doll's House or Seasons of Mists would be great). They did that kind of thing with the Spawn animated series on HBO and I thought it worked well. And anime does it all the time with OVAs. But I can't really see it being done as live-action.
