According to Deadline. Joesph Gordon-Levitt is working on finalizing a deal with Warner Brothers which could bring one of Neil Gaiman's greatest comic book creations to life: SANDMAN. The rumor mill has been spinning for quite some time that JGL would be starring in the film, and this current deal he's working on has him attached as the protagonist in the film, possibly Dream of the Endless? In addition, there's a rumor that says JGL, who will also be appearing in next year's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, may be looking to direct the film as well. He made his feature directorial debut this past year with the well received Don Jon.
Also attached to produce is David Goyer, who's had his hand in numerous comics-to-film properties including Blade 2, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises, in which JGL played John Blake. This will be big news for Vertigo fans as this long beloved series may actually make it to the big screen.
We'll keep you updated on the latest Sandman film news as it develops.
What do you guys think about this news? Will Gordon-Levitt be playing Dream of the Endless? What do you think of this Goyer/Levitt team up?
Update
Joseph Gordon-Levitt apparently confirmed the news on his Twitter.
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm incredibly honored to be working with David Goyer, Warner Bros, and @neilhimself on SANDMAN. #Prelude
