The search for her brother leads Rose to Florida, where she moves into a house filled with odd residents. Meanwhile, two of the escaped dreams reveal a bizarre connection to Jed, Rose’s brother, while the third dream continues their murder spree—and collects disturbing mementos from their victims.

Searching for her little brother Jed, who she hasn't seen in seven years, Rose Walker moves into a boarding house in Florida. The house is occupied by a strange mix of individuals, including the "Terrifyingly, apallingly normal" Barbie and Ken in the downstairs, Zelda and Chantal, creepy women who wear wedding dresses all the time across the hall, a weird recluse named Gilbert in the attic, and the split-personality landlord, Hal / Dolly. And then there's a raven that seems to hang around outside her window for no apparent reason.

Meanwhile, the nightmares that have escaped the dreaming in Morpheus' absence seem to have been up to some particularly diabolical misdeeds.

A complex story is about to unfold... 0

If you had picked up this issue of  The Sandman off the rack when it was released back in 1989, without having read any of the series before, or after, it would have been easy to dismiss it as another one of Veritigo's "mature readers", let's-be-weird-for-weirdness-sake titles, which were common at the time (e.g. Grant Morrison's The Doom Patrol, Peter Milligan's Shade the Changing Man, etc.). And, indeed it does seem like there is a whole bunch of crazy stuff happening, and no real coherence....
