The first publication in Australia to reprint The Phantom was the weekly text and picture magazine The Australian Woman's Mirror, starting just a few weeks after it’s American debut with the first story The Singh Brotherhood, AWM however made a few changes, such as altering the text so that it started not in New York but Sydney, turning Diana Palmer into an Australian, labeling another location as Port Darwin, and replacing American slang with Australian slang.
This proved so popular that after two years the Woman’s Mirror started to print collections of these slightly altered Phantom tales.
