This mini-series hopes to revitalize the character, as we really haven't seen him in action since the role was played by Billy Zane in the feature length movie way back in 1996. That same year, the character had his own cartoon, Phantom 2040, which also had a SNES game. Most memorable for some of us would be the 1986 classic cartoon Defenders of the Earth which not only featured the Phantom, but also Flash Gordon and Mandrake the Magician.

I know it's one of those "modernizations" of a pulp character, but even though I REALLY want to hate the costume, I kind of like it. I know many of the purists out there will be a little ticked, but it's modernization of the character, so they can technically take all the liberties they want with the characters.
