The Golden Age Patriot and third Captain America. Edit
The Patriot, Jeffrey Mace, was the leader of the stateside superhero group the Liberty Legion during World War II. With the prodding of Bucky Barnes, Mace sent out a call over the radio airwaves for other superheroes to join the fight against Nazi infiltrators. Quite a few responded—Miss America, the Whizzer, Red Raven, Blue Diamond, the Thin Man, and Jack Frost all answered the call and became the Liberty Legion.
After World War II, William Naslund took over the identity of the missing Captain America. After his death in 1946, Mace became the third Captain America, until his retirement in 1949.
