    Come Together Right Now

This is a fun book.  Cable whoops up on Freedom Force and drops some tactical knowledge on the New Mutants that arrive to help him.  Cable's role as a teacher surely won't be too far fetched for us readers now that we've seen his instructional side, especially since his advice resulted in a success.

The writing in this issue was a far-cry better than the last, although there were moments of serious drama that were explained too thoroughly by the involved characters.  It's not as noticeable, however, so I think I'm willing to let it slide.

Now, the thing about going back and reading these older comics is that so much has happened since.  You can tell that the creators of Cable really didn't have a clue as to what this guy would mean to the rest of the Marvel Universe.  His arm is continually called robotic, he alludes that the mechanics are of his own making, on so on.  For those of us who know, these inconsistencies can actually be annoyances, but that's how it goes sometimes.

In this issue we also see some precursors to the Muir Island Saga with Moira and Legion acting out of character.  Honestly, the Muir Island events have very little to do with the New Mutants and Cable, but Siryn will later join the team and her past is mixed up with that storyline.

On the whole, this issue is a good one.  Only one glaring Liefeldism exists (tell me Moira's knee doesn't look funny and I'll punch you).  Cable meets up with his new team and the book takes a new, militaristic turn starting in the next issue.
