Earlier today in New York City
The "mighty" Avengers sit outside the boarded up Sanctum Sanctorium of Dr. Strange as Brother Voodoo is inside. He is trying to figure out if Dr. Strange and the "new" Avengers are hiding inside by magic. Everyone is tense inside unitl finally Voodoo leaves. He tells Iron Man that Dr. Strange is not inside. When he is asked if he's sure, he says no. Dr. Strange is called the Master of Mysticism for a reason. Both teams of Avengers sit and wait to see what Iron Man's order will be. Finally he orders his team to leave. Before he leaves himself, Iron Man goes inside one more time. He talks to them, saying he knows they're there. He asks what do they think they'll accomplish. They lost the war and should be heroes again.
When they can finally let their guard down, Peter asks what exactly are they trying to accomplish. Cage says they're going to help people just like they did before. He goes over how they first formed as a team. Someone set free the villains at the Raft. Next they ended up in the Savage Land where they discovered S.H.I.E.L.D. was up to something dirty. Followed by some stuff going down in Hydra. Then Nick Fury has to take off after the Secret War followed by their Civil War. Luke thinks there's a connection with everything. He says that scares the holy crap out of him. Peter asks what if they have become the bad guys. He says people like Osborn or Fisk don't see themselves as being bad. Luke says then they'll just beat each other up since they're so good at it.
Their current plans are to go to Japan to save Maya. They figure it's what Captain America would've wanted since they left her in charge over Japan. As they prepare to leave, Wong tells them to look outside. When they see the man standing out there, Spider-Woman says it's another trick. Dr. Strange tells them all that it is Clint Barton, formerly known as Hawkeye. They all believed he was dead after the Avengers Disassembled. Strange tells them how he came to him some months ago, before the Civil War, looking for the Scarlet Witch. Strange said he didn't know where she was and he could help Clint get back to his old life. Clint wasn't interested in going back. He believes they can trust him.
With a shock, the empty room Clint is standing in is revealed and he sees the others. Strange asks him if he found the Scarlet Witch. He pauses and says no. Wolverine says he's lying. Clint tells them what he found isn't going to help anyone. He said he came back to tell Dr. Strange that he was right. There wasn't any closure in finding her. He comments to the others about their recent events such as Peter messing up his life on television. They ask him how is it that he isn't dead anymore. He reminds them about the House Of M since they were pretty much all there. Luke doesn't trust him since he's been an Avenger pretty much since the beginning. He figures he's working for Stark and his Avengers. Clint refers to them as Stark's "corporate muppet babies." He just felt he owed it to Dr. Strange to let him know he was alright. He says he'll leave and they can get back to whatever they were doing. Strange tells him to stay. Clint says he justs wants to do whatever he can to honor Cap's worldview. He said he would've done anything to stop the "war." When Peter says that they are Cap's team, he asks what are they doing and why aren't they shoving the Superhuman Registration Act up Stark's @#$? Peter replies that's the plan for Saturday.
Clint asks what is in Japan. Luke keeps telling them to stop talking to him and let him go. Wolverine tells him it's something Cap wanted them to deal with. Luke tells Clint to go back to Stark but Dr. Strange interrupts him. Luke says he can barely trust the people on in the room let alone someone that just came back from the dead. Strange and Spider-Woman say they can use him. Strange's solution is to cast the spell of Tartashi on them. It will reveal if they are all pure in spirit and intentions. Everyone passes.
Clint seems interested in going. Luke gives in and tells him to "get his Hawkeye on" and go with them. Clint says he's not Hawkeye anymore. Peter tells him it's a "costumes only" trip. Wolverine hands him the Ronin costume that was sent back to them.
Japan, Now
The new Avengers are surrounded by Elektra and the Hand. Luke is telling Elektra that they won't win this fight. He says that they don't need to fight. They, themselves are criminals. He just wants to talk. He says they don't want to fight, they just want Maya. Elektra says that the Hand wants Maya for themselves. Luke asks if she thinks Maya is worth all the members that she'll lose in this fight. Luke begins to go on about how everything is turned upside down, including S.H.I.E.L.D., Hydra, the Civil War, etc. Wolverine asks Luke what does he think he's doing. When he says he's just talking things out, Wolverine says that he's letting her win.
Suddenly, Maya gets up with a sword in her hand. She shoves it into Dr. Strange's chest. The fight begins again. Luke says he was stalling for time to allow Wolverine to heal. Wolverine says you never stall ninjas. One by one, the Avengers are getting overwhelmed and taken down. Elektra welcomes Maya to her new life.

Revolution, Part 4
I remember when New Avengers was in my top 5 comic books I would look most forward to each month. Sadly that is no longer the case. I will admit that the worst issues of New Avengers are still better then some of the garbage on the shelves, but we have come to expect much more from Bendis. Maybe that's one of the problems. Bendis has set the bar so high for himself, that when he writes something "passable" I feel cheated.
That certainly doesn't excuse him from what he's done here however. BMB has taken "decompressed storytelling" to an entire new level. There is no reason that it should have taken 4 issues to get the team to this point. The entire flashback scenario lost a lot from the beginning for the simple fact we knew all along the entire team was going to make it to Japan. The only thing that I was mildly interested in was the identity of Ronin, and I must say I was greatly disappointed in the big reveal. Not because of the character, but because THAT character is being used as Ronin. It makes sense don't get me wrong, but I would have liked to have seen something a little better for that Marvel Hero then dressing up like a ninja.
What makes it a little worse is the fact that Luke Cage points out everything that's happened to them since issue #1 and it makes you realize how much more this current storyarc could be doing... instead of taking up 4 issues to tell us how the Avengers got to Japan, when we already know they get there.
Bendis gets to play around with dialog a little more here, which I enjoyed, just wish there was more actual "story" in this issue. Also Yu's art is doing nothing to win me over, although I'll admit I do find his fight scenes have a tremendous amount of energy to them.
