Pretty cool idea. I'd check a few out.

This seems absolutely unnecessary.

I completely agree. I would go as far as to say that, in my eyes, the 'New 52' as a whole has only worked out positively for a few characters.

I would also agree with people's sentiments that they should have released #0's BEFORE they started wheeling out their #1's if only to orient us to what had and what hadn't happened in this 'new' universe. Almost a year in and I'm still not sure what is canon, what isn't, who exists, who is dead, who isn't. It's maddening.

Oh well. I guess I'll just keep reading Animal Man and nothing else.

People were complaining about not knowing what happened before... why not?

#54 Posted by jsphsmth (1136 posts) - - Show Bio

@krspaceT: No, unfortunately most will only complain. The best part is that the people who are complaining, aren't reading the comics.

On the other hand, I am reading a lot of DC's comics and I am very excited about this idea.

It is so Jim Lee can leave JLA. Haha He can't stay on a book for more than 12 issues.

He really can't. it sucks, because he's one of my favorite artists.

This just in: The Flash #0 will star Wally West! Batgirl #0 will star Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain! Blue Beetle #0 will star Ted Kord! Wonder Woman #0 will star Donna Troy!

It would be nothing short of a miracle if this actually happened.

Hmmmm...I don't know. I mean I like the concept but really it just seems to me that DC is STILL influenced by the Zero Month event eighteen years ago by doing things like this. Zero issues almost never have any continuity to other issues and tend to be, as others contend here, just filler issues for the sake of having filler issues. Seems WAY too soon to be doing this and at the same time seems unnecessary. I think the mysteries of our characters in the #1s is already well established and to do this would just be belaboring the point. I mean I'll get 'em but it just doesn't seem necessary to me.

Reminds me of when Marvel did that with -1's.

#59 Posted by sethysquare (3843 posts) - - Show Bio
My logic is that whatever tied to #0 would be tied into future stories and at the same time revealing some "secret origins" for the characters.

Not a gimmick, a great way of celebrating the anniversary of the relaunch. DC had no intentions of making each first issue last September an origin story. One year later, it is a great idea to show fans who are invested in the characters where they came from and how they came to be.

Maybe you should actually read some of the relaunch before giving your opinion.

I'll give my opinion whenever I bloody well feel like it. I feel like it's a gimmick - an origin issue could just as well be told in the #13, rather than a #0. I have and I am reading some of the relaunch - it's not necessary to spend money on everything DC is putting out to justify my opinion. Geez, don't you have anything better to do than stalk my posts?

#61 Posted by htb106 (1641 posts) - - Show Bio

I wander how they'd do that for the second wave and I also think people may complain if some of the cancelled titles aren't involved.

this might be a struggle for titles like firestorm where you see their origins.

#62 Posted by htb106 (1641 posts) - - Show Bio

it'd be interesting if they could give you certain issue 0s when you bought the comic and if you wanted extra you pay.

but that's very unlikely because we would have already had free comic book day

#63 Posted by IronHerc (94 posts) - - Show Bio

Only for series i buy i will, if they are nice stories then I'm cool with it

#64 Posted by wowylied (238 posts) - - Show Bio

Batwoman already have a #000. Personnaly i would not mind if DC start making .1 issue like marvel.

#65 Posted by ThanosIsMad (2224 posts) - - Show Bio

Horrible idea. I'm barely reading DC books as it is because of the poor storylines and poor iterations of most of my favorite characters, having an entire month of issues where none of the stories progress will just leave me without things DC related to read that month.

#66 Posted by leokearon (1835 posts) - - Show Bio

sounds like a good idea, though I would prefer them to be -1 instead of 0

#67 Posted by sentryman555 (783 posts) - - Show Bio

All the titles are doing a 0 issue? Superboy was born at the start of his series. How do they go further back then that!?

#68 Posted by McClintick (25 posts) - - Show Bio

I think it's great, will make it fresh i just hope they are able to close a story in a single comic and make it good. I'm excited for Batman

#69 Posted by maxicere (936 posts) - - Show Bio

Could be wonderful if DC can launch the #0 for all titles and delete all this crap of New 52. I need the real DC heroes back.

If not, DC, go to the Hell...

#70 Posted by Noctis (1396 posts) - - Show Bio

I'd think it would be interesting, I definitely will get Wonder Woman & Batman.

#71 Posted by Deep_shock (18 posts) - - Show Bio

Why don't they do a ZERO on Didiot and fire him already? Sales are going down the toilet; six short months after the reboot DC sold overalll LESS comicbooks in March than July or August before the New 52!

#72 Posted by Baberaham_Lincoln (944 posts) - - Show Bio

I don't mind... hope it's done right though.

#73 Posted by azza04 (1503 posts) - - Show Bio

I think this is a cool idea, I'm on board.

#74 Posted by BatClaw89 (144 posts) - - Show Bio

Too Many Haters Here. DAM!!!

#75 Posted by DrewHLMW (53 posts) - - Show Bio

Well i think this is an awesome idea.

Batman #0 may explain how he has so many Robins or it could be a retelling of his first encounter with the joker.

Red Hood #0 again could be a retelling of his death and his revenge against the Joker and Batman

Batgirl could show her recovery after Joker shoots her and how she managed to walk again or it coudl just be the killing joke retold

Really looking forward to these zero issues, why dont we all wait for the solicits for these before jump on the bandwagon and judge them.

But until DC actually announce this themselves on their own website then issues 0's are just a rumour for now.,

@Deep_shock

Why don't you troll somewhere else, the league/therealdcu

#77 Edited by sethysquare (3843 posts) - - Show Bio

I think this is like 52 secret origins all done at one go. If its done well, I think it'll be even better for story telling.

#78 Posted by deadpool25mm (602 posts) - - Show Bio

Sounds cool , but they sould release #0 and #13 together so we wont have to wait an extra month to continue the main story.

#79 Posted by Bestostero (5618 posts) - - Show Bio

this could be good...but i think it'll turn out to be filler material if it does happen

#80 Posted by ZiPPY45 (9 posts) - - Show Bio

I agree with cbishop in that they should have been done BEFORE the #1's came out, actually a lot of things should've happened before the New52 but thats another discussion. Anyways, these seem like an ok idea BUT ONLY if they are somewhere between 45-80 page 'spectacular's' that really delve into and bring cohesion to the universe and what happened with Flashpoint, the events that did/didnt happen etc...If it's just a dumb regular size 'filler' issue, then my disappointment in DC will continue to drop unless they are able to bring a lot of info and story, but I doubt that unless they are all longer.

Still sound kinda cool though, IF done properly

#81 Posted by LordRequiem (1316 posts) - - Show Bio

I like the concept of filling in this fairly new, sparser universe they've created.

#82 Posted by TheMess1428 (2176 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm going to end up getting them anyways since I've been buying every single New 52 comic every week, but I really hope it is going to be some kind of history based issue. Especially for all the characters who didn't get a new origin in their #1 and #2 issues. And please for the love of God, put Blue Beetle #0 about Ted Kord.

#83 Posted by thephantomstranger (129 posts) - - Show Bio

Did Dan Didio just watch Memento?

Also unless your really good it's really difficult to make flashback's action-tastic without boring the [insert word I'd use on GiantBomb] out of the reader.

#84 Posted by Wowlock (233 posts) - - Show Bio

If this is just a cheap trick to ''mess with the origins'' , I doubt it would be successful. I mean if they re-tell all the origin stories in a 0# comic....well that wouldn't serve to anything. Eight months in and we still have ''revelations'' each chapter and a Zero chapter might render those revelations mute. Or worse, it might throw off even more 'old fans' since they might feel the origin story of their favorite character got screwed ( although this happens a lot...)

In any case, if they think of doing this, I can think of 2 reasons.

1. They might think the first issues didn't do series justice ( argueable)

2. They think ,even with the relevations along the way, the new titles couldn't captivated the audience as much as they like to and they want to clearify things for the fans so they can enjoy the titles mroe ( as in the series felt incapable of handling the ''mystery past'' of the New 52 . Also a possibility )

#85 Posted by TheAtheist888 (86 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm game. I like the idea of going further back and know more about some of the New 52 characters.

#86 Posted by KidSupreme (829 posts) - - Show Bio

WOW that sounds cool :D

#87 Posted by Th3DarkKn1ght24 (88 posts) - - Show Bio

Let me just say, those issues better pretty damn spectacular if they are gonna throw a two month gap inbetween the story lines!
