The future is gonna end! Will you be here reading it? FCBD 2014!!!!

F.C.B.D. 2014 (Free Comic Book Day 2014) was just around the corner on the first saturday of May 2014!!! DC Comics gives a special zero issue to tease a future event that will surely end it!

    The Good

I love time travel. Sure it's been done over a million times, but still, I love it. Especially when done right, and I believe that this series is going to do it right! This "zero issue" gives a tease of what we can expect in the "Future's End" series/story arc. It shows promise; especially with Brian Azzarello, Jeff Lemire, Dan Jurgens, and Keith Giffen at the helm. All great writers!

In this "zero issue", we see a post-apocalyptic world ruled by Brother Eye; a machine. This machine has spread it's evil to all of mankind and has assimilated the human race as it's own; a machine serving only Brother Eye! However, as both heroes and villains have fallen over the past years; Batman (Bruce Wayne) has a plan to change all of this. Time travel! Dying at the hands of Brother Eye's soldiers, Bruce intrusted this time travel mission to Terry McGinnis (Batman Beyond) to go back and stop his younger self from ever creating this vile machine. However, things might not go as planned as Terry is sent to a time where Brother Eye is in it's infant stages; and not in the blueprint phase. Thus Future's End is born!

Sounds exciting right? I know! The writers did a pretty solid job with this "zero issue". It made me excited to see what will happen and how Terry will save the entire superhero, and villain, community from a mistake that Batman and Mister Terrific will make; at creating Brother Eye. The story started off a bit cliche, with having favorite heroes and villains dying off for the "greater good." The dying of the heroes and villains in the first couple of pages didn't hook me, however towards the end it made me say: "well this is going to be fun."

Having Batman basically kill all of humanity is really awesome! It shows something that not even the great Batman foresaw, and I loved how in the end he made a comment about "....not why I lived my life..." That part was really amazing. And I can tell that he's disappointed in what he had created with Mister Terrific. Also with the twist that younger Batman will try to stop Terry from destroying Brother Eye. So it'll be great to see how Batman of the Future fights Batman of the past; at trying to convince Batman of the past that Brother Eye is going to destroy mankind. So the story so far looks pretty solid.

The artwork is also great! I was hoping that cover artist, for this series, Ryan Shook was going to be an interior artist for this series; however he's not. But still, he did a good job with the artwork and it hooked me into the issues. The interior artwork was really amazing! It had my eyes wide open the entire time as I was seeing this beautiful masterpiece of artwork displayed before my eyes. The story was great, but the visuals really helped for me having a good experience with the "zero issue."

    The Bad

    No complaints.

    The Verdict

If you have a fear of spiders and robots, cyborg-spiders, then you shouldn't read this book. However, if you fear none of those things; then by all means -- CHECK IT OUT! Your local CB store should still have a bunch of FCBD goodies in the shoe; so just stop on by and pick one up. It's free! This was a good issue that introduced us to a world, or future, that's going to end; no thanks to the brother man himself, Brother Eye. This story/series has promise and it's at least worth 6 minutes of your time. Did I mention it was free? Anyway, happy reading! Until the next review, or issue, or movie, or whatever. Laters.

Yesterday's review: Son of Batman (MOVIE based on "Batman & Son" by Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert).

More FCBD reviews coming up!!! Valiant Universe and Armor Hunters FCBD. Also new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Arrow reviews this week!

      Batman did something wrong?! 0

Well this issue certainly did its job by making me want to read the series; also I have read many complains that dont like this issue because they say it copies terminator (which is awesome and seeing this super-powered terminators would terrify anyone) or age of ultron (which i didnt read but appears to be a really bad story, so why not have a good story with the same principle?) So we see the planet 35 years into the future and what horror would be to live in those days, seems the kind of fu...
