Thor vs. Surtur
I have loved the Mighty Thor and it's been the best Thor series since J. Michael Straczynski left the previous Thor series. I have also loved Fractions work in general and will be sad to see him leaving Thor as well as Iron Man. Jason Aaron will have a lot to live up to and will defiantly need to do better than he has been doing on Incredible Hulk. I have also been loving Alan Davis' art on the series during the crossover and would have loved if he did the final issue as well but as I don't recognise the artist who is (Barry Kitson) I will just need to hope he does a good job.
This issue sees the end of the Everything Burns crossover. Loki believes that Surtur will now win until Thor comes back along with warriors from Valhalla. Loki still not thinking this will be enough goes to get the help of Mater Wilson the High-Druid of the Manchester Gods who sacrifices himself to give Loki the weapon he needs to defeat Surtur. Loki then gives the sword to Thor who merges it with his hammer to make a weapon that can defeat Surtur.
This was a good issue, and a good end to the crossover. I was however expecting a better fight against Surtur but for the length it was it was very good, and well thought out. I also liked all the running about Loki did not leaving anything for granted and thinking everything through. It does bode the question is Loki evil, good or both (which is most likely) as he turned slightly evil a few issues ago and now he appears to be good again by correcting his wrongs. I think it's not so much whether he's good or evil I think he's just a very much confused character who doesn't know the right thing to do so does what he thinks is right. I also liked the return of Odin in this issue although he really didn't do anything, still nice to see him.
Final verdict. A brilliant end to a brilliant crossover. Although this hasn't been the best crossover this year it has by far been the most consistent, with each issue being good but not excellent. I would highly recommend this issue, the crossover and am looking forward to the epilogues.
