Bad cover, good story.

Okay let us start with the cover. What could have been a pretty decent yet very creepy cover, is pretty much ruined by the inclusion of a very stupid caption. Especially since that very stupid caption does not even take place in the book. It has nothing to do with the goings on inside. Well, okay, I guess the Skrulls did chase Hank Pym, that is about it. I don't know, it could be they wanted to make a vague ( not really ) reference to Ant man, in case people did not know who it was on the cover. The cover hides what I thought was a pretty cool story, which helps to revive Hank Pym from throw away status.

So in this issue we discover that the Skrulls have had to use a couple of Hank Pyms because at least one realized their invasion plan wasn't going to work.
The story's entertaining enough and the art isn't bad in a John Romita Jr. sort of way, but I can't help but ask what purpose this story serves. It doesn't add much to the overarching Secret Invasion story and there's a long sequence where Pym Skrull just drinks coffee with hot chocolate in it.
I can only guess that this a foreshadowing of a later Pym defection, since the Dum Dum Dugan Skrull tells him he's skeptical due to the fact that he shares Pym's mind. But it seems like it's doing it a little clumsily.
Some of these Avengers Secret Invasion backstory issues have been good reads and answered some worthwhile questions. This one doesn't really get there.
