The Lords Of Crime
Jonah Hex and Amadeus Arkham continue to investigate the Gotham Butcher murder that leads them to the Religion Of Crime. After surviving an attempt on their life, they
My Thoughts:Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray continue their sensational story that began last issue with this new series All Star Western. One of the highlights (for me at least) is the fact this old western story is taking place in Gotham City. I'm a huge fan of Gotham so seeing a story take place there in its early years is exciting. When you add Jonah Hex into the mix, you know it's going to be something special. He's such a unique character and Palmiotti and Gray know exactly how to handle him.
We see the relationship between Jonah Hex and Amadeus Arkham develop a little more. I've enjoyed seeing the interaction between the two and look forward to seeing how things will play out between the two. I can't help but draw comparisons to the relationship of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.
This issue has a back up story that features El Diablo. I've enjoyed seeing him in other Jonah Hex comics I've read but nothing about this short story grabbed me. The artwork by Jordi Bernet isn't as good as the art in the main story. If it was up to me, I'd scrap this part and use it for more All-Star Western.
If I recall right, I enjoyed the artwork a little more the first issue. I don't know why but this time around there were a few more things that bothered me. Moritat's style certainly suits the story. Some of the panels felt a little rushed in my opinion. I'm also not a fan of the thick inking used frequently. I wasn't crazy about the cover either.
While not as good as the first issue, I'd still recommend picking it up. I still believe this series is going to be something special. The first issue was a great indication and this issue did reveal some great moments for us to look forward to.
