    Lost a bit of momentum

This is where Loners has hit a snag. There is no question that either C.B. Cebulski is a living breathing Marvel Encyclopedia, or he does proper research on the characters he's writing (unlike some other writers). That should be a good thing, except for the fact that he is also smart enough to realize that most people are not going to know the origins of these obscure characters... so he has to explain a lot in this issue... way to much to the point that it's kinda boring.

The concept for this series is good however. Putting the spotlight on some of Marvel's C-List characters and trying to do something with them is great. Finding out what happens to heroes that weren't all that popular and what it does to their psyche is interesting. While most of them go on about how being a hero ruined their lives, we get a little twist here with Ricochet. This issue centers on Ricochet, and a lot of explaining about how he ended up in L.A., which is the main problem of this issue. However I did like the reason he became a super hero, as it's a little different from the norm.

I do like the fact that Cebulski has picked up on a few lose plot threads from other books, but the exposition in this issue just killed the momentum. The issue ends with the introduction of another obscure character, which I hope won't be taking up most of issue #3 to explain who they are.

There was enough to keep me mildly entertained in this issue, but I'm hoping the next ones pick up a bit
