Considering Wanted wasn't based off a big name property, it's impressive how well it did in the theaters (the movie had a $50 million opening weekend). Talk of a sequel started way back in July 2008 but there hasn't been much mentioned since then. Although it was in August of 2009 that director Timur Bekmambetov said he knew of a way to bring back Angelina Jolie's character.
Sci Fi Wire reported that James McAvoy, who played the main character, the Killer, said that he heard from Bekmambetov back on New Year's Eve.
The question is where will the movie go from here? The first movie started out incredibly faithful to the comic. Then it veered off like similar to the Killer's curving bullets. They could stretch things by bringing back Jolie's character through those regenerating yogurt hottubs. Maybe McAvoy was able to resurrect her by putting her in there right away. There were also lots of other characters from the comic that weren't used. Could we possibly see some of them turn up? Maybe we'll even see the Killer in costume."I got a call from Timur just as the bell struck 12. He said, 'I will call you in two weeks and maybe have something to tell you then.'"
Do you think a sequel would work? Did they kill the chances of it being successful with the way the first movie ended? Do you want to see Jolie return as Fox?
