When a new criminal breaks Two-Face out of Arkham Asylum, claiming that he has need of " a truly master criminal", the Joker is incensed. Soon, the Clown Prince of Crime stages his own breakout and tracks down Two-Face, determined to show just who Gotham's number-one criminal truly is.

    Plot

Senor Alvarez helps Harvey Dent escape Arkham Asylum, but when the Joker asks for help the new villain tells him that he needs a truly criminal mastermind and Two-Face is better than the Joker. This slight does not sit well with the Joker and the next day the Joker escapes Arkham using a giant toy balloon, with his plan for vengeance against Alvarez and Harvey.

Shortly in the Joker's hideout he learns from his goons that Batman is in Paris and Harvey and Alvarez are held up in the top two floors of a hotel. Finding out these two facts seems to delight Joker and fit into his plan.

Later at a seedy hotel, Alvarez relays his plan to Two Face to steal 10 Golden Spanish double headed doubloons from the Gotham Museum. Two-Face flips his coin and decides to join Alvarez in the heist. The new duos planning is interrupted when room service shows up, but it turns out to be Joker and his goon.

Joker hits Alvarez in the face with a acid pie but is knocked out by Two Face when he hits him in the head with a bowl of pears. Two Face gets away but Joker knows his target and plans on beating him to the doubloons.

Later at the Museum, Joker sneaks into the subbase but he is blindsided by Two-Face who knocks him out again. This time when Joker comes to he is tied to a buzz saw trap, but when Two Face leaves Joker escapes using his acid squirting flower.

Then upstairs Gordon calms Mr. Kemp's fear that anything will happen to the doubloons just as the lights go out and come back on. Everyone believes that everything is normal, but they don't know that Two Face used the blackout to steal the coins and hide on the second floor.

Later when Two-Face tries to sneak out after hours, Joker stops him and this time he gets the upper hand in the fight, that is until the two villains knock each other unconscious.

The next morning when they reopen the museum the guards find the pair sleeping on the floor and take them back to Arkham. This is when Joker and Two Face discover the coins were fake and Batman had found the real one in Paris. Apparently, Alvarez had stolen the real ones and was going to double cross Two Face and use him as a scapegoat.

Note: Riddler, Penguin and Catwoman only appear on the cover
