All of Attilan comes out to celebrate the upcoming wedding of Tally to Frag. On the eve of her wedding night, Tally commits suicide. The denizens of Attilan respond to Tally's death. Gorgon is dismayed at the populace's rejection of their culture's traditions. The aged Chief Justices of the Genetic Council prepare to issue more edicts. Crystal contemplates the proper usage of the Terrigan Mists. Gorgon argues for traditionalism against Karnak's more progressive beliefs. Triton intervenes in the conflict, only to suffer the harshest of words from Karnak. Medusa awaits her husband, the Inhuman King, Black Bolt. Medusa dismisses her handmaiden, Minxi, to reveal her pregnancy to Black Bolt.
At first, Black Bolt is angered at Medusa's defiance of the Genetic Council. Black Bolt, though, quickly warms to the notion of fatherhood. The Inhuman populace rails against the harshness of the Genetic Council's laws. To soothe her subjects, Medusa reveals her pregnancy. The Genetic Council is furious at Medusa's open defiance. Black Bolt's stock is deemed unfit to continue, and the pregnancy is ordered terminated. Black Bolt stands by the Genetic Council's decision. The Inhuman Royal Family attempts to console Medusa, to no avail. Medusa flees to Earth, to birth her baby. When the news reaches Black Bolt's insane brother, Maximus, the renegade Inhuman releases himself from prison.
Crystal's husband, Quicksilver, stands behind Black Bolt's decision. Crystal leaves their daughter, Luna, with their nanny. The Inhuman Royal Family argues over whether to support Medusa, or Black Bolt. Ultimately, they all decide to journey to Earth, to be by Medusa's side. Quicksilver informs Black Bolt of the Royal Family's abandonment. Medusa, with Minxi, hides out in the Nevada desert. Maximus sets his newest scheme into motion. Maximus holds his brother accountable, in the deaths of their parents, and the accident which drove Maximus insane. Black Bolt isolates himself from the Inhuman populace.
The Inhuman Royal Family arrives in Las Vegas. They immediately draw an angry mob against them, who mistake the Inhumans for Mutants. The Inhuman Royal family makes contact with a group of isolationists, who lead them to Medusa. As Earth's environment is toxic to the Inhumans, Crystal uses her powers to purify the area surrounding them. Gorgon protests this disruption in the natural world. Maximus makes contact with the isolationists. Karnak lauds Crystal's purification of their environment, Minxi, however, believes as Gorgon does. What Crystal has done is unnatural. Black Bolt suffers in silence. Triton notes, with dismay, the isolating nature of his aquatic physiology.
The natural world responds to Crystal's interference, birthing a creature composed of the four primordial elements. Medusa realizes that Karnak desires her handmaiden, Minxi. Gorgon throws in with the isolationists. Karnak confronts Gorgon, in search of Minxi. Gorgon also notes Karnak's desire for Minxi, a desire Gorgon shares. Maximus, in the guise of Black Bolt, appears to Medusa. Maximus is spurned. The Inhuman Royal Family begins to note strange occurrences in the environment. The Inhuman Royal Family is attacked by the monstrous spawn of the four elements. After a pitched battle, the Inhuman Royal family, working in unison, destroy the unnatural abomination.
Medusa goes into labor. Karnak fears the child will possess it's father's city-leveling voice. In a fit of hallucinogenic madness, Maximus murders the leader of the isolationists. Medusa gives birth to a son. Maximus feels remorse for his actions. Crystal feels guilt for taking action against the natural world. Karnak's attempt to court Minxi is interrupted by Gorgon. Minxi reveals her feelings for Gorgon. Medusa bonds with her son. The elemental creature resurrects itself. This time, the Inhuman Royal Family fares less well in their combat with the creature. Lockjaw teleports an injured Triton to the Royal Palace, in Attilan. The first cry of Medusa's son destroys the creature.
Medusa notes a change in the demeanor of her son. Maximus convinces Medusa to return to Attilan. Gorgon, and Karnak, come to an understanding. Black Bolt arrives on Earth. Black Bolt happily reunites with his family. The Inhuman Royal Family returns to Attilan. The Genetic Council takes possession of the baby. Karnak rails against the corruption within the Genetic Council. Quicksilver makes plans to reconcile with Crystal. Minxi notes the change in Medusa, since returning from Earth. Like Black Bolt, Medusa, too, has grown silent. Maximus returns to the Royal Prison, where he dreams of using the baby as a weapon against Black Bolt.
