Beauty and the Beast!
In what is probably the worst Hulk issue yet, this month we see the new switch on/switch off Hulk battle it out with a maniac who lives at the centre of the Earth, can see anything and project himself anywhere as an image, and yet feels compelled to take down The Hulk just because. And what’s with all these villains taking up refuge in the centre of the Earth? I know, I know; it was 1963 and back then this seemed like a pretty cool, mildly entertaining concept… fair enough. But we’ve seen it too many times already. Along with aliens and commies.
Thankfully however, there are no green men to be seen in this issue, but guess who’s boots General Fang cleans? Of course, it’s another commie out to get Hulk in part 2, and it’s just as lame as the first. In a neat nod to continuity however, we get to see that big ice cube blaster thing, but it fails, and we’re left wondering what the point was. Oh and I wish I could say watching The Hulk get mad on an airplane was at amusing, but it wasn’t. He gets kicked off and starts leaping between islands. ‘Nuff said?
