Plot Summary

Overview

This is it, kids -- the skull–busting, chest–punching, punch–kicking conclusion to THE SEVEN CAPITAL CITIES OF HEAVEN. Seven practitioners of super kung fu, champing at the bit to bloody each other to a pulp. A rogue Hydra cell, intent on destroying K'un-Lun from Earth, loads its terror train full of explosives and prepares to fire it through a warp in space-time. A schism in the leadership of K'un-Lun threatens to tear the city in two. The original Heroes for Hire, outgunned, outmanned, and out of time somewhere in Tibet. And Davos, the arch-rival of Iron Fist, intent on exploiting all this chaos, wants to assassinate Danny Rand once and for all. When was the last time a comic melted your face off? Gosh, this was a disappointment.  "The Seven Capital Cities of Heaven" has been a brilliant storyline involving a mystical competition, the rights of female warriors and Danny uncovering important truths about Orson Randall.  Whilst all this is going on, a very evil man called Xao is trying to invade K'un Lun, holding Jeryn's mother, Luke, Misty and Colleen hostage and being very ruthless.  So what's gone wrong?  Well, it all ends with a big, fat fight.  And I guess if you like that, then that's fine but it feels a little clumsy after everything that has gone on before.  The fact that the competition does not end is not a negative, rather I thought that this was a masterstroke on Brubaker and Fraction's part.  However, I'm not at all sure about the demystifying of all the combatants, who basically become the Magnificent Seven here and who are now going to go with Danny to New York.  No.  Doesn't sit well with me at all.  But don't let this review put you off the book which for the most part has been stunning.  This though is a huge disappointment in contrast with what had gone on before.
